2021 School Close-Out
We have made it to the end of this year! Thank you for all your support during the 2021 school year; we have had many changes but your encouragement and cooperation has made things run fairly smoothly. I appreciate the positiveness of many of you. The entire staff of Denton Elementary is grateful for your understanding and kindness, and "go with the flow" throughout the year. You are #DESTreasures!
The Summer Program between CCPS and CC Recreation and Parks is filled and there is a waiting list with no transportation provided. The deadline was May 21 so any applications received after that date will be put on the waiting list.
Congratulations to our 5th graders who have completed their elementary school experience. We will be celebrating them on June 10 and wish them the best as they move to Lockerman Middle School. #AlwaysADolphin
Device Collection:
We will be collecting all iPads and laptops for cleaning and updating. Since we have so many moving parts, please read this list carefully.
All students must return the device with the cover/laptop bag, and the Apple charger. Damages will be assessed during clean-up and a bill to cover repairs or replacement will be sent to you. Any CCPS device including headphones, Kajeets, loaner iPad/laptops must be returned at the conclusion of your child's schooling.
• Students learning in-person: Device collection will begin on June 7. All devices need to be turned in by Friday, June 11.
• Students learning virtually: Device collection will begin on June 11. All devices must be returned by June 18.
• Students who are confirmed and registered for the CCPS/RecParks program will keep their devices at DES until the last day of the program.
We will be sending home math strategy and fluency games the last week of school. These games will support continued practice of the skills and strategies that our Dolphins need. Materials like dominos and a deck of cards have already been sent home earlier in the year and the supplies needed are minimal. Please encourage your child to practice thier fluency this summer!
Students will be reissued a device when school reopens on September 1. The plan is that schools will be open 5 days a week on the regular schedule beginning September 1.
All my best for a safe and relaxing summer,
Susan R. McCandless

Family Input Needed for Title I in 2021-2022
Please remember that Title I supports teaching positions, like the Reading Intervention teachers, Math and Reading Resource Teachers, and materials for instruction at DES. Our Reading and Math Nights and other family events like S'more Reading are also supported through this funding. The Math Summer practice pages coming home are sponsored through Title I.
I appreciate you taking a few minutes to provide feedback on our programs. Use the link above. I value your input into what we provide with these valuable funds.
Many thanks!
Susan R. McCandless
