October 2020
Message from Principal
We have some important information to share with you about the changes over the next few weeks. Thank you for your continued support as we navigate October!
Please review the latest information regarding Project Restart here: https://mychesterfieldschools.com/project-restart/
There are some important points to remember:
This is our final week of the 8:30-1:00 Virtual Schedule. On October 12th, the Virtual Schedule will change to 9:25 a.m. to 1:55 p.m. for all students. This is because we have staff who are working both in person and virtually.
4th and 5th Grade students are remaining virtual right now. The school board will make a decision on Oct. 13th regarding their return date which will most likely be Oct. 26th. 4th/5th grade class placement notifications will be closer to their return date.
All K-3 students will receive notice of their placement early this week. If your child is changing classes, the teacher will call you on Monday or Tuesday of this week. If they are remaining with their current teacher, you will hear from them via email. If there are changes, they will begin with their new teacher on October 12th. Please be aware that Resource teacher and Special Education teacher assignments may also potentially change.
Hybrid Option Students:
K-3 Students with last names A-K will return to the building on Monday, October 12th. They will attend in person on Mondays and Tuesdays. Our in person hours are the same as our usual hours: 9:25-3:55. Students may arrive anytime after 9:05.
K-3 Students with last names L-Z will return to the building on Thursday, October 15th. They will attend in person on Thursdays and Fridays.
There will be asynchronous work provided for your child to complete on the days they are not face to face. Your child's teacher will provide an opportunity for your child to join Morning Meeting every day and also a touch point later in the day on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Your child's teacher will review the daily expectations for learning at home. The learning at home schedule is a suggested schedule, your family is welcome to do what works best for you but the work should be completed. Some of your child's grades will come from this completed work.
As always, please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have as we move into our new schedule. Thank you!
Dr. Huffman, Enon Principal
Who is my child's teacher?
Many students in K-3rd will have a placement change. For example, if your child's teacher remains virtual and your choice was a hybrid placement, your child will be placed with a teacher serving in the hybrid classroom. We have created new class lists and have asked our teachers to reach out to you on Monday, Oct. 5th and Tuesday, Oct. 6th of this week. You will receive either a phone call from your child's new teacher or an email from your child's current teacher if there are no changes.
We will notify our 4th/5th grade families of placement changes at a later time closer to the in person return date.

What does my child need to bring to school?
Students may bring school supplies with them. Each classroom will either have an assigned cubby area or a specifically assigned desk for students to leave their personal items. Check with your child's teacher for directions on what needs to come to school. Remember- you will still need some supplies for the learning at home days.
Breakfast and lunch will be provided free of charge to all students through December. Bring a lunch for your child if this is not what you would like them to eat.
Students in K-3 should bring their chromebooks back to school with them. Chromebooks should be charged and ready to use.
Students should bring a water bottle.
Students should bring a jacket/coat- just like they usually would for recess. They can also bring individual play equipment such as a jump rope. Students will be allowed to play with balls that are kicked- like soccer or to play individually with a ball like a basketball. Play equipment may not be used in a shared setting and school equipment will be cleaned after each use. Masks are not required outdoors but students are asked to still socially distance.
Students should bring their instrument kit from home for face to face music class.

Information for Hybrid Placement Students

All students will be asked to wear masks during the school day except at recess. Staff will also wear masks throughout the day and will add face shields if they will be less than 6 ft. from students. We will be socially distancing even during outside time.
Students who participate in the hybrid model will have Resource each day but at Enon our Resource schedule will change to a three week face to face model with additional lessons being provided asynchronously. For example: If your child attends on Monday/Tuesday, they would potentially have Art and Music during week 1, the following week they might have PE and STEAM and the following week Library and Guidance. On the three learning at home days, there will be additional lessons available for the Resource classes they did not have face to face that particular week.
