2021 MSA Olympics/Field Day

We are excited to be able to offer one of our favorite traditions at Montessori -- Field Day! In order to do so in the safest way possible, we have had to make some modifications. It will take place Wednesday, May 19 from 9-11 AM for Primary Risers through High School. We will not be allowing spectators, but we will record opening ceremonies and the relay so that families can watch later. Upper School students will be managing the socially-distanced stations and small groups of students will be rotating around to the various stations. Each student group will have a supervising teacher. Because we will be outside, socially-distanced, and students will be grouped with their usual classmates, students will be mask-free.

In Primary PE this week, the students walked around on monster stilts and the Risers practiced handing off the baton so they're ready to pick up the baton when they're eligible for the field day relay race!

Preparing Beds, Planting Flowers, and Observing Tree Bark

In celebration of National Arbor Day, Lower and Upper Elementary had lessons about tree bark. The students below are making observations of some tree bark on our campus -- is it smooth, what color is it, does it smell? The Upper Elementary students also prepared their plant beds and planted flowers this week.

Indoor Recess and PE

With the stormy weather at the beginning of the week, students got the opportunity to participate in indoor recess and PE.

Origami

The Middle School art students have been working on origami designs over the past couple of weeks with Mrs. Maynard -- here they are working on a balloon design.
