Educator Shortage - #MichED chat
MASA, MASSP and MichED - collaboratively solving challenges
Creating Solutions for the Teacher Shortage
This concern led MASA to form a teacher shortage work group comprised of Superintendents statewide inclusive of representatives from MDE, Higher Ed and other partners. Last year as part of this effort, MASA released an Educator Shortage Strategic Plan and in September of this year, MASA conducted a survey to gather data on the Teacher shortage. The basis of the Strategic Plan and the outcomes of the survey will guide this chat (see attachment below).
Last year MASSP authored a 7-part series on Teacher Shortage and the role building principals could play in helping to address the issue:
Teacher Shortage and Educators Leaving the Profession...What Can Building Administrators Do About It?
This is a great opportunity to bring the communities together to discuss the findings and brainstorm solutions rather than lament the problem.
