HCSD Distance Learning
Friday, 3/27/2020 Distance Learning Update!
In Support of our Community and County
Dear HCSD Families,
Thank you for your continuing support as we implement our Distance Learning Program. We are always appreciative of your partnership. We are thankful for the dedication of our educators and their optimism in delivering new programs to your children.
The following is information regarding our school closures and the ways in which we can support countywide initiatives.
Many of you have kindly reached out with offers of support to families in need throughout the county. An inspiring bright spot in all of this is the care and compassion our community has for their neighbors and the most vulnerable among us. Here are some local initiatives that welcome your support right now, or that you can access if you are in need:
San Mateo County has created the San Mateo County Strong Fund to respond to the urgent needs of families, small businesses, and non-profits who are struggling with the economic consequences of the coronavirus response.
Pets In Need has established a temporary emergency assistance program for local pet owners financially hurt by the coronavirus pandemic
San Mateo County is accepting volunteers for a variety of jobs. Fill out this form if you are interested.
All hospitals are accepting donations for medical supplies, including face masks, disinfecting wipes, hand sanitizer, nitrile gloves (latex free). You may donate directly:
Blood donations urgently needed. For information click here.

Support for Essential Workers - Childcare
Peninsula Family YMCA has repurposed its Gateway Child Development Center (in SSF) to provide childcare (ages 3 mo – 5 yrs) for medical providers and first-responders during this COVID-19 pandemic. With social distancing and rigorous safety routines, their capacity is 36 children (we normally serve 111 children in this licensed center).
In addition, they have other Pop-Up YKids (child care) at a few of their San Francisco locations as well. You can find a list of all Pop-Up YKids locations on their website at: https://www.ymcasf.org/locations/peninsula-family-ymca
