A Message from the Administration
by John Terko
WSD continues to benefit from a vast and generous pool of volunteers. We are required by law to have policies and procedures in place to ensure proper screening and supervision of volunteers. In addition, we must convey the importance of ensuring the confidentiality of personal information for all children, families, and staff. Click here for the Confidentiality Statement, which we ask all volunteers to read, sign and submit.
There are two categories of volunteers:
- Supervised volunteers may work directly with students under the supervision of a school district employee. In addition to the confidentiality form, we ask supervised volunteers to complete a Consent for Release of Child Abuse Registry form.
- Unsupervised volunteers, such as mentors and chaperones of overnight field trips, need to have a more extensive background check completed. Click here for more details.
Your support is always welcome within the schools, and we appreciate your attention to and compliance with our efforts to fulfill our responsibility for the education and safety of your children, our students.

Support literacy and the Williston Schools!Community Budget Forum
Monday, Nov. 10th, 5:30 PM, WCS Library
One of the things that make Williston schools dynamic learning environments is the involvement of our community in the educational process. Your input helps shape what we are and what we will become. Please take the time to join us for a Community Budget Forum on Nov. 10th at 5:30 in the WCS Library. Here are questions we welcome your input on.
· What are the essential program components you want to preserve?
· What areas, if any, do you feel need additional focus?
· What ideas do you have about preserving the excellence that the Williston School District stands for, while continuing to operate the schools in a fiscally responsible manner?
Family Math Challenge
Congratulations to the following families for participating in the 1st Family Math Challenge: Nulty, Jadus, Watson, Beliveau, Watson, Dysinger, Mitchell, Marvin, Wright, Nicholson, and Moore/Stetson!
Math is a part of everyday life and can be enjoyed by everyone. Each week a new logical reasoning math problem will be posted in the School Bell. Share the challenge with your children, use everyday objects to create a visual, watch their creative brains grow, and enjoy your time together. Email your answer (share how you arrived at it if you are so inclined) to Julie Rogers (jrogers@cssu.org) with Family Math Challenge in the subject line. Click here to find the answer to last week’s challenge and a new challenge.

Health Office
Strep throat is a common type of sore throat in children, but it's not very common in adults. Healthcare professionals can do a quick test to determine if a sore throat is strep throat and decide if antibiotics are needed. Proper treatment can help you feel better faster and prevent spreading it to others!
People with strep throat should stay home from work, school, or daycare until they have taken antibiotics for at least 24 hours so they don't spread the infection to others.
