This Week in Writing

Unit 3: Literary Opinion

This week in writing the students will be more closely examining the text they have been working with to discover its theme or message. They will learn how to redevelop their thesis statement about the text to reflect their opinion about how the text's message relates to some aspect of life. They will then use what they have learned about opinion writing to write an essay that includes strong supporting evidence for their thesis. The goal for this piece of writing is to convince the reader of how the message/theme from their chosen text teaches a lesson or showcases something important as it relates to life.

This Week in Reading

Unit 3: Fiction

We have been studying Greek Mythology in reading class. The students have had so much fun learning about this genre! Please remember to have your child read for 35 every day. They may read to younger brothers and sisters. They may read from Zing. The students have the classroom code to get on the website. Please continue to monitor your child's progress with AR books and tests. Please let me know if you need assistance with doing this. Thank you again for all of your wonderful support!
