Mrs. Walters News
Hooray for all of our Bushnell Bears! Wonderful job on our first 3.5 days!
In all honesty, the start to this school year was the BEST EVER! It was incredible to see the growth in our students this week with their comfort level, their sense of direction, their practicing of being respectful, responsible and safe. It makes me even more excited to see what is to come!
If your child is interested in eating breakfast at school, please remind them to come right in to the building when they arrive. They only have a few minutes to eat before they have to get to class.
With meals not being free any longer, there are some who may wish to fill out a free and reduced lunch application. It's easy! The website to apply is located at https://lowell.familyportal.cloud/application/terms Click on 'Application.' You can also pick up a paper application at school or ask that one be put in your child's backpack.
School safety is a very important part of our school culture. If you are coming to school, for any reason, you will be asked to show identification. We will have a table in the vestibule for you to drop student items. If you are picking up your child, you will need to have your id confirmed by our office staff before doing so. We hope you understand this practice and our intention of keeping our kiddos safe at school.
Please LABEL EVERYTHING! We already have quite a growing pile of lunchboxes, water bottles and other items. If last names are on things brought to school, we can return them a lot quicker!
If your child is prone to having accidents, please stash an extra set of underwear and pants in their backpack.
If you are interested in any extracurricular activities, the Lowell Student Activities page link is at the bottom of this newsletter each week. There you can find sports, theater, girl scouts, cub scouts and more for your child to get involved throughout the year!
Finally- our new Bushnell Bear T-shirts should be done early next week! All students will receive one for free as a gift and will be sent home when ready!
Here are a couple reminders for you:
~First- please be patient these first few days of school. There are a lot of little bodies leaving cars, walking on sidewalks, making there way to the playground and back to their cars again at the end of the day. Go SLOW in the parking lot!
~Drop off begins at 8:20 in the morning. The line should keep moving. It helps if you prep your child before getting in to the drop off line. If you would like to stay with your child, please park in a parking spot.

Student Accident Insurance Available
These plans would be a secondary plan to any other insurance your child may be covered by. If you have no insurance at all for your child, this is an opportunity to provide at least a base level of coverage during the school day. Plans will provide benefits for medical expenses incurred because of an accident. Deductibles and co-pays in your current health plan require you to pay out of pocket costs first, while these plans allow benefits to be applied to your deductible or co-pays.
