Cape's Mission & Vision

Mission: To provide a safe and supportive learning community where every student experiences success.

Vision: We believe that the most promising strategy for achieving the mission of Cape Elementary is to develop our capacity to function as a professional learning community.

Message from Ms. Osterholm and Mrs. Sund

Dear Cape Elementary Families,

As we move from Thanksgiving into the winter holidays, we want to once again express our gratitude for our amazing staff, outstanding students and excellent parents. How honored, thankful and privileged we are to be part of the Cape family! Enjoy the holidays with your family and friends.

Cape has the best parents in Lee County! You have demonstrated this time and time again by asking what you can do to support our school, our staff and most importantly, your children. Thank you for your continuing support evidenced at our last PTO/SAC meeting where we had over seventy families attend along with your continuing support of our Cape Spirit Nights and fundraisers. It will soon be time for our PTO Holiday Shoppe, and we will need volunteers to help students pick out gifts, wrap and stock the shop. Please call Cape if you can help for an hour or a day or go to https://capeelementarypto.ptboard.com/ to sign up for a time. Our students love shopping for their families, and our PTO has a huge selection of wonderful gifts.

Listed below are several resources you can utilize to support your child at Cape Elementary:

  • Launchpad.leeschools.net

  • Reading Renaissance Home Connect – this link enables you to access student performances on AR quizzes.

  • Twitter! And Facebook: Follow us @CapeElem

  • FOCUS account – this link allows you to access grades on individual assignments and assessments along with attendance.

We serve breakfast to over 300 students each day from 7:25 to 7:45. Our goal is to close breakfast at 7:45, so learning can begin promptly at 7:55; however, if we have late buses or a long line at Parent Drop-Off, breakfast will remain open until those students are through the breakfast line.

We love our Spirit Days each Friday. Our students look awesome in their Cape t-shirts. Parents and students may purchase school t-shirts in the front office for $20.

We continue to be honored and privileged to be the leaders at Cape Elementary. Please call, email or set up a meeting to chat with us if you ever have a question or concern. We love hearing from parents! Thank you for your support, for your understanding and for allowing us to teach your children. They are simply the best, and they are the reason we love what we do!

Happy Holidays!

Sincerely,

Ms. Osterholm and Mrs. Sund

BOOKS for Winter Break!

All Cape students will get a package of Scholastic books to read and enjoy over Winter Break! We will home the week of December 12th! Thanks to the Lee County School District for purchasing the books for our Cape kids.

PTO News!

Hello Cape families! We have some exciting things coming up for our Cape kids before the long holiday break.

Saturday, December 3rd was our annual Breakfast with Santa at Applebee’s on Del Prado. We sold 400 tickets, which tops the 250 we sold last year! It was a fun morning filled with yummy food, Santa & Mrs. Clause along with Seymour the Elf, plus Christmas carols with Mr. J! This event continues to grow each year and we loved seeing our Cape families out having fun.

Thank to you all the teachers and parent volunteers, without them this event wouldn’t have been possible. Thank you Tyler Rose Photography! Check out their Facebook page for photos taken at the breakfast.

December 12th-15th will be our PTO Holiday Shoppe. Shopping will be open from 8am-12:30pm, Monday through Thurs. Students will shop with their class at the assigned time. New for this year there will not be any shopping before school. We will reserve time on Thurs. afternoon for students who missed their class shopping time to shop. This is a very exciting time for kids to shop for their friends and families at affordable prices, with selections for everyone on their list! Please look for the Shopping List flyer to come home this week. Please help your child/ren complete their list of who to shop for.

We still need A LOT, and I mean A LOT, of volunteers for this event to help kids with shopping and wrapping. Please consider donating a couple of hours of your time by signing up at https://capeelementarypto.ptboard.com/home. Use our PTBoard school code SXEABG to create an account if you don’t already have one to sign up.

Congratulations to our AmazonSmile Raffle Winner Diana Cazares! She won a $25 Amazon Gift card donated by Priority Business Solutions for having Cape Elementary PTO as her AmazonSmile charity of choice. We had 51 entries & are up 16 new supporters for a total of 164! If you haven’t, please consider shopping via AmazonSmile and choosing Cape Elementary PTO as your charity. Amazon will donate .5% of your purchase to the PTO. Our goal is to have 175 supporters by the end of the year. AmazonSmile is a great way to support Cape Elementary while doing your holiday shopping. Our supporters raised $750 for us last year shopping on Amazon. Sign up at https://smile.amazon.com/ch/20-2788839 or from your Amazon App under settings. A video is posted to our Facebook Page, Cape Elementary PTO, with instructions.

Our Fall Fundraiser activities were delayed due to Hurricane Ian but we’re happy to report that they will be happening in December. Soak the Principals and The BMX Trickstars show is coming to Cape on December 19th! The Top Selling class in each grade as well as the top 3 sellers in the school will get to attend and sit in the front row for the show. Students who sold 5 items will also attend the show and those who sold 8 items or more will receive a treat to enjoy during the show. Selling 1 item earned one water blaster to Soak the Principals with every additional $30 earning another water blaster. Congratulations to our top sellers! 1st Tyler Ernest (5th Grade) 2nd Ashley Noel (5th Grade) 3rd Hendrex Davis (Kindergarten). Top Selling classes will be announced on the school news. Thank you to all for helping raise $14,000 for Cape!

We hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season and we look forward to continuing the fun in 2023! Thank you for supporting Cape PTO!
