GLVN Bulletin
News for GLVN Volunteers (Thông Tin cho Thầy Cô GLVN)
March 23, 2017
Dear Catechists,
As many of you have heard, the parish announced last Sunday before Masses that Cha Xứ is on a leave of absence. I know that news like this can cause a lot of concern and a lot of rumors as people wonder what is happening and what happened. As a community of faith, I encourage catechists to try your best to refrain from participating in the rumors, and to simply pray for Cha and for our parish.
In the uncertainty that comes with such change, we should remain focused on on God, and especially during this season of Lent, each of us should try to remain a light in the darkness for those youth and everyone who is seeking Christ at this time.
To do so, I invite you all to pray with me for all our priests. See the "Prayers" section of this bulletin for a beautiful prayer that I pray regularly for our priests. Together, our prayers can bring graces and blessings upon our priests and our parish so that we can continue our mission to bring Christ to our youth.
In Christ,
Chi
(PS. If there is anyone who didn't give up Facebook for Lent ... could you please share the link to this bulletin on our Teacher Facebook group for me? :-) Thank you!!)
This Friday & Saturday, we will be holding our first-ever lop 9 retreat. This retreat was developed to help our lop 9 students prepare to head into their Confirmation year as they approach lop 10. Please pray for the retreat team and all the volunteers who are helping to make this happen. The retreat will be in the school building at the parish from 5 p.m. Friday to 5 p.m. Saturday.
As we go through this 24-hour retreat with the students, we have an extra special invite for you:
You are invited to join us for “24 Hours With the Lord” from 5 p.m. Friday 3/24 until 5 p.m. Saturday 3/25 in room 105 of the school. We will turn the space into a special area for adoration and prayer, and the Eucharist will be exposed there during the entire duration of the retreat.
This “24 Hours With the Lord” is actually an invitation from Pope Francis to all the faithful around the world. On the 3rd weekend of Lent, he invites dioceses and parishes around the world to "focus on God's mercy and rediscover a path back to the lord through intense prayer and the sacrament of reconciliation." Our Archdiocese will be doing “24 Hours With the Lord” at the Cathedral with perpetual adoration and confessions there on Friday/Saturday.
We think it’s Divine Providence that the “24 Hours With the Lord” initiative falls on the weekend of our retreat. This lop 9 especially needs so much prayer, and I have confidence that when we all unite our prayers for them, God will respond with even more graces than we can ever imagine.
The Eucharist will be exposed so we need to have someone with Jesus at all times, so to help us ensure Jesus is never left alone, please go to this link and sign up for a spot. Adoration time is individual prayer, and you can definitely feel free to sign up for any of the times (even if someone else is already scheduled in there... the more, the merrier!)

As Catechists, the most beautiful gift you can give our students is your prayers. Hope you can join us!
If you do come, we ask that you remain quiet and not visible to the students on retreat. Thank you!
Background About the Challenge
This year, students will earn tickets, and they can exchange them any time throughout the GLVN Challenge for all sorts of fun prizes. It's a little like Chuck E Cheese. This way the students are really just challenging themselves (versus competing against others). Last year's competition got a little to competitive, and so we wanted to change it up a little this year to keep it fun.
Challenge activities will be handed out before the Mass time, and are always due the following Sunday to earn the points for the specific activities. No late submissions will be accepted.
Click here to read the details on how to participate. Please encourage your students to take part in the GLVN Challenge!
Weekly challenge worksheets will also be posted online at https://www.smore.com/4avnt

Prayer for Priests
Lord Jesus, we your people pray to You for our priests. You have given them to us for OUR needs. We pray for them in THEIR needs. We know that You have made them priests in the likeness of your own priesthood. You have consecrated them, set them aside, annointed them, filled them with the Holy Spirit, appointed them to teach, to preach, to minister, to console, to forgive, and to feed us with Your Body and Blood.
Yet we know, too, that they are one with us and share our human weaknesses. We know too that they are tempted to sin and discouragement as are we, needing to be ministered to, as do we, to be consoled and forgiven, as do we. Indeed, we thank You for choosing them from among us, so that they understand us as we understand them, suffer with us and rejoice with us, worry with us and trust with us, share our beings, our lives, our faith.
We ask that You give them this day the gift You gave Your chosen ones on the way to Emmaus: Your presence in their hearts, Your holiness in their souls, Your joy in their spirits. And let them see You face to face in the breaking of the Eucharistic bread. We pray to You, O Lord, through Mary the mother of all priests, for Your priests and for ours. Amen.
Morning Prayer Together
Don't forget to join us exactly at 9:45 a.m. each Sunday morning in the Teacher's Lounge for morning prayer together. It will be brief (2-3 minutes) so that you can get to your classrooms before 10. Whether there are 30 of us or just 2 of us -- this brief prayer time will take place every Sunday, so please join in to offer up our day to Jesus!
All-School Prayer for 2016-2017
