MTRS Student and Family Update

Dear Students and Families,

Well we have arrived at the final week of school for 2020! I am so thankful to put this year behind us and move boldly into 2021. I am excited to march towards another graduation and am hopeful the Class of 2021 will be able to graduate in-person with all of their classmates!

I wish you health and happiness over the December break. Stick close to home; enjoy the snow, hot cocoa, and warm fires. Let’s all commit to practicing the Fab Four (wash hands, wear a mask, social distance, and stay home if you are not feeling well) so we can continue to keep our community safe!

Wednesday, December 23 is a half day of school. On this day students will end their day at 11:30. Here is the schedule:

The Middle School STUCO is organizing a card-sending event during the month of December. Students who would like to participate (optional) will send one card to another student and receive one in the mail (students who would rather email can also do that). During the first week of December, STUCO advisor Ms. Rutz will match students; students will also receive a card in the mail. If you have any questions please email Ms. Rutz:

We’re excited to announce our first ever MTRS virtual talent show! Our talent show will be held on a platform called Flipgrid that is commonly used for educational purposes in our district. Students AND families are welcome to participate, the more the merrier! Think Partridge Family meets TikTok. Video categories include: music, dance, or random talents (comedy, magic, other talents, but no gross talents).

Videos must be 3 minutes or less, no exceptions. Please ensure all content (music, lyrics, clothing, etc.) are school appropriate for all audiences (including younger children).

DEADLINE: Submissions open now through January 15

You’ll be able to view, vote, like, and comment the following week (all comments will be KIND and SUPPORTIVE to represent our MTRS values). Please see this flyer for more information and the Flipgrid link. All students will be presented with this slideshow next week in advisory. Any questions please email Ms. Rutz at
