Principal's Perspective
It was great seeing so many of you here last night for our 1st-4th grade meet the teacher night. We really do appreciate your involvement in your child's educational experience and look forward to partnering with you this year.
I want to bring your awareness to an update in our student handbook this year. Below is a copy of the updated language regarding electronic devices. This includes cell phones and smartwatches and their use in the school setting. We understand students may have these for after school communication, but all parent communication should come through the school office or your child's teacher during school hours.
As a reminder, we do not have school this coming Friday, September 1st or the following Monday, September 4th for Labor Day weekend.
Enjoy the cooler weather that will come this weekend!
In partnership,
Mary Beth Fischer
Electronic Devices
Students are welcome to bring technology to school as a tool for learning if approved by the classroom teacher and/or administration. If you or your child decides to send such devices, understand that the school is not liable for any loss or damage to the device. All devices should be clearly labeled with the owner's name.
No cell phones or smart watches of any form are to be used during the school day including drop off and pick up. If these devices are brought to school, cell phones should be kept in their backpack or bag in their cubby. Smartwatches may be worn but not used to text or communicate during the school day. If a student has continuous reminders to follow this rule, they will be asked to give them to the teacher and at the end of the day it will be returned. If there are continued violations the device may be confiscated and kept in the office and the parent will be required to pick it up. We ask that parents do not text their children during the day; you can contact the office for any questions or concerns. Pictures and videos are not to be taken without prior approval from a teacher or staff member. Students are not to post to social media while on school property, including inside and outside the school building, athletic fields, and school buses.

August 2023
Dear Parents/Guardians,
We are happy to announce that we will continue to offer food support again this year for families who can benefit from this assistance with the Nutrition Club! Through the Nutrition Club, our goal is to help feed our kiddos on the weekends when school breakfast and lunch is not available. We are so thankful to Open Doors of Westfield and Merciful HELP in Carmel for helping make this happen.
At the end of each week, your child will receive a small sack of food in his or her backpack. The sack will have two small breakfast meals, two small lunch meals, as well as a couple of snacks and drinks. All foods are shelf-stable, which means they do not need to be refrigerated. Examples of items are cereal, granola bars, macaroni and cheese, spaghettios, dried fruit and crackers.
The food is collected and distributed by Merciful HELP and Open Doors. If you have a concern about allergies or the quality of a product, please remove the item from the sack and contact me. We will do everything we can to assist you.
If you would like your child(ren) to participate in the Nutrition Club, please fill out this GOOGLE FORM. If your child(ren) participated last year, they are already on the list! If you do NOT want your child(ren) to participate this year again, please let me know.
We look forward to having your child participate in the program! If you have any questions or choose to no longer participate, please contact me at 317-896-4706 or NewmanN@wws.k12.in.us.
Thank you,
Nicole Newman

Estimados padres/tutores,
Gracias,
Nicole Newman

First Trimester Lunch Sign Ups!
For student safety and to accommodate our limited cafeteria seating, we are allowing our families to visit once a trimester. To be prepared for our guests and to check the Safe Visitor Registration of incoming visitors (this is required for every visitor) please make sure you register 24 hours in advance.
We allow 5 visitors per grade level lunch. Please use one slot per person signing up. Due to limited space, visitors will be sitting with their child(ren) at their classroom tables. You have the option of bringing in a home packed lunch or purchasing a lunch at school. No fast food will be allowed at this time. Lunch menus can be found here. The price of an adult lunch is $4.80.
Chromebook Protection Plan for 3rd & 4th Grade
Please remember to sign up for the Chromebook Protection Plan. Without it, Chromebook repairs can easily exceed $100. The deadline to sign up is September 15, 2023. You can find more information at the link below.
Attendance
Please do this even if you let your child's classroom teacher know about the absence. This will ensure that our attendance secretary receives the information.
Dismissal Changes
If you have a dismissal change, please let the front office know by 1:00pm. This gives the office enough time to notify your child is where they’re supposed to be at the end of the day! Please DO NOT leave dismissal changes on the attendance line.
To notify the front office of a dismissal change, call (317) 896-4700, or email:
