2. Track your assignments & work: Find a strategy that works for you: list your homework and due dates in an assignment notebook, separate folders for each class, organize your Notability, use a calendar or planner (paper or digital), etc.
3. Stay connected w/ school information: Check school email every day and get comfortable with sending email messages. Check Schoology updates on a daily basis. Check your school website for information and upcoming events.
4. Plan and manage your time: Use a calendar to schedule time for yourself to study and do school work. Set reminders on your phone or iPad to help keep on track.

National Suicide Prevention Week, September 7-10
Next week (September 7th-10th) is National Suicide Prevention Week. In order to advocate positive mental health and provide resources to students, Fremd High School will be promoting a week long awareness campaign throughout the school. The school district has partnered with Erika’s Lighthouse, which promotes positive mental health and how to access resources when in need. In addition, social media/Schoology posts will be made throughout the week to encourage students and staff to talk about this important topic and bring awareness.
As important as this topic is, we also realize that it can be difficult for many students to talk about and can at times be upsetting. Please have a discussion with your child in preparation for next week’s events. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your child’s counselor by calling our Student Services office at 847-755-2630 or emailing the counselor directly.
For additional information on this topic, please refer to the Parent Handbook of Childhood and Teen Depression.

Erika's Lighthouse
A key component to an individual's healthy development is the conscious allowance for social and emotional exploration and learning.
To grow in a well-rounded and responsible way, we all need to learn how to recognize and manage difficult emotions and use healthy coping and problem-solving skills.
And we need to understand when it is vital to reach out for support.
For this reason, D211 has chosen to implement a depression and suicide awareness program, The Erika's Lighthouse Program: Depression and Suicide Awareness for High School Students. This program was developed by a highly respected mental health education and advocacy organization, Erika's Lighthouse: A Beacon of Hope for Adolescent Depression.
The program goals include:
- Raising awareness of depression and its symptoms
- Reducing the stigma surrounding mental health issues
- Encouraging the utilization of support services if necessary
