INFO @ ALTA VISTA
ATTENDANCE REPORTING
The timing of our automated attendance phone calls to parents has moved up to 9:00. This makes it imperative that you enter absences and tardies into PowerSchool as soon as possible in the morning. If a child arrives after you have entered your attendance for the day, there are two options:
- You can go back into PowerSchool and change the student from absent to tardy.
- You can send the student to the office for a late slip.
If a child arrives late and neither of these is done, parents will receive a phone call notifying them that their child is not at school. One day this week, we had thirty students who were tardy. Four of the students did not come through the office and did not have their status changed in PowerSchool. This resulted in an automated phone to parents, creating a lot of worry and anxiety.
I will be reminding parents in an upcoming newsletter about the importance of being on-time, but we also need to do our part to keep accurate records. Thank you for your help with this.
2020-2021 STAFF SHIRTS
Although it is only January, it's already time to think about staff shirts for next year. Home & School Club is generous in sharing their t-shirts, but we also would like to have our own staff shirts. Mikayla and the School Advisory Team have come up with some options for the coming year and we would like to get everyone's input. Please fill out this short Google form by January 17th (Friday), selecting your favorite design or sharing a new idea.
ACTS OF KINDNESS
The Great Kindness Challenge takes place the week of January 27th. We would like to see every classroom make a commitment to spreading kindness during the week. Lisa H. created this document where we can record what is being done across the campus. Once you've decided when you'll be performing your act of kindness, please add it to the document, but don't let this limit your kindness to just one week. Think about other ways that your class can make the day a little brighter at school, at home, or in the community. Thank you for choosing kindness.
DO YOU WANT A ...
A family donated a number of gently used balls that are currently in the staff room. If you are interested in adopting one as a classroom ball, come and grab one (there are only a few left). Please mark your name or room number.
The PE Room is getting overcrowded and Jay would like to get rid of the desk that he doesn't use. If you need a small teacher desk, please let me know.
