Historical Background/Personal Info

-Born in Rome on 29th September, 1901

-He attended a local grammar school, and had an early advantage of mathematics and physics

-He spent four years at the University of Pisa, gaining his doctor's degree in physics in 1922

-His greatest achievement, the first sustained nuclear chain reaction, took place in a small laboratory in Chicago.

Fermi didn't know he was making this reaction and he was the first to split the uranium atom. So he was the first to know about anything to do with nuclear chain reactions
