ALL HANDS ON DECK

Fiesta Friday!

Even though September 28th is now a full day of school, our Staff Appreciation team still plans on providing a Fiesta themed lunch for our teachers to enjoy during their lunch breaks. We still have spots available for sides, condiments, drinks, desserts, as well as cash donations for the meat that will be ordered from a local restaurant.

Sign up here and note what day your item is needed at school.

Art By Me Help Needed

Interested in helping Ms. Brockway in the Art Room? We need some volunteers to help organize the completed artwork the kids create for the Art By Me fundraiser to send in as well as volunteers to help distribute the completed products when they return to the school.

Check out the sign up to see if you can help. Thank you!

TREASURE CHEST

Book Fair Last Minute Reminder

The book fair is all packed up and ready to go!

You can still shop for a few more days! Online sales end Monday, September 24th. Shop using this link. Online orders will be delivered for free to the school and distributed to your child's classroom.

Congratulations to Mrs. Barnes! She won the teacher book recommendation raffle (participating teacher's recommended books available at the fair for a chance to win) and received two books off her wish list for winning!

We did have one casualty due to the storm - our large outdoor Book Fair sign was damaged. We will use some of our Scholastic Dollars to buy a new one before our next fair in the spring.

Thanks again to all who volunteered some of your time and who purchased books! We loved seeing so many Clippers excited about reading!

Publix Partner Cards Update

Did you know you no longer need those little green key cards for OCE to earn a portion of your Publix purchase? All you need to do is enter your phone number at check out!

To link your phone number to OCE for Publix purchases, all you need to do is create an account (if you don't already have one for digital coupons) at Publix.com. There, you will be able to select Olive Chapel as your Partner. Finally, simply enter your phone number on the card payment keypad at check out and a portion of your purchase will be donated back to OCE.

To date, the Publix Partner program has raised more than $745 for OCE!

CREW NEWS

Spirit Day: Dress Like A Pirate!

Our Clippers had a lot of fun dressing like a Pirate for Spirit Day this past Wednesday. Check out some of the fun below:

Cultural Arts Assembly

OCE also had it's first Cultural Arts assembly this past week with world-renowned storyteller, Donna Washington. Donna performed two sessions, one for grades K-2 and another for grades 3-5.

Donna tells multicultural folktales to introduce students to different cultures, learn story structure, boost vocabulary, and enhance pre-reading skills. She uses dynamic language, energetic expressions and vocal pyrotechnics to bring these stories to life. The students loved her!

Our next Cultural Arts Assemblies will be:

November 7 - Birdman Dave

February 20 - Black Box Dance

April 3 - Bright Star Theater
