How is the virus transmitted?
- It is thought that fruit bats are natural Ebola virus host.
- The virus is transmitted to people from wild animals
- Ebola is transmitted by contact with blood, sweat and other bodily fluids.
- If you touch a contaminated object, you can get Ebola.
How is the infectious disease treated and prevented?
- There is no approved vaccine against Ebola.
- Earlier the disease is discovered, the higher is the chance to survive
Ebola Virus
- The Ebola virus belongs to the family of filoviruses ("Thread viruses"), which is named after its filamentous RNA structure.
- With a diameter of about 80 nanometers per vision is the Ebola Virus probably the largest RNA virus.
Risk factors
- older people have a lower chance to survive ebola than younger people.
Affect of human population
- humans are afraid of ebola
- they are afraid that ebola becomes more widespread
Symptoms of ebola
- it can take from 2 to 21 days, but usually 8 to 10 days
- high fever
- headache
- joint and muscle aches
- sore throat
- weakness
- stomach pain
- lack of appetite
