Principal's Message
We were sorry to schedule seniors for pick-up of graduation materials last week and then to cancel it at the last minute. Jostens was fully anticipating the delivery of the gowns, but like so many other deliveries this year, there was a delay. As soon as Jostens can reschedule this event, you will hear from them and from us for the date and time. Again, our apologies.
There was a lovely (albeit cold) evening event last week when students were inducted into the National Honor Society (NHS). Thank you to teacher and NHS advisor Alana Bertram for preparing the students to accept membership into this national society. Membership is based on the four pillars of Scholarship, Service, Leadership, and Character. I was especially impressed by how well organized the student board members were in running a safe, efficient, and yet still personal event. After getting out of their cars, students received a certificate and a gift box, and they had their pictures taken in front of our ISB backdrop. It was a joy to be able to see more of our students, most of whom I have not met, and to see how beautifully they dressed for the event. I was so impressed. Congratulations to the students and to their families.
We will soon know how many students are planning to attend hybrid instruction. This will allow us to make more specific plans for classroom assignments, movement throughout the school, and lunch time arrangements, as well as for the safety precautions we will all be following. Teachers will be preparing for instruction that is inclusive of students in Hybrid and in CDL. As soon as we return from the upcoming spring break, we will have more information to share with you.
As always, we appreciate you as valued members of our ISB community.
Sincerely,
Janice Adams

Grades 11 & 12 Erin’s Law Lessons
In July of 2015, the Oregon Legislature passed SB 856, also known as Erin’s Law, which requires schools to provide child sexual abuse prevention instruction kindergarten through grade 12. Schools will be responsible for developing an instructional plan to implement a minimum of four sexual abuse prevention lessons each year that meets the needs of all students in their building addressing the following topics and skills:
Topic: Healthy/Unhealthy Relationships
Skill: Techniques to Recognize Sexual Abuse
Topic: Teen Dating Violence
Skill: Effective Communication Skills to Establish Boundaries
Topic: Sexual Assault/Abuse
Skill: Skills to Tell a Trusted Adult
Juniors will receive Erin’s Law lessons in Advisory on March 17th and March 31st. Seniors will receive the first lesson in Advisory on April 7th. The second lesson date is TBA and is usually given in the last weeks of school in order to address the transition from high school to the college environment.
The full parent letter explaining Erin’s Law, including a link to additional information provided by the district can be found here. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Ms. Adams or Mr. Gladney.
Junior Meetings
On Wednesday, March 10th counselors held a Junior Assembly with all students to give information about the college admissions process. Ms. Schuff, IB Coordinator, and Mrs. Dickerson, CAS Coordinator, also presented IB DP information to students. The presentation can be found here. Starting March 17th, counselors will hold Junior Meetings with groups of 3-4 students at a time to further discuss post-high school and graduation planning. Prior to the meeting, students are asked to complete this form which will gather information that will help counselors assist students. A copy of their answers will be sent to parents following the meeting, along with some other relevant information and resources. Students are always welcome to schedule an individual meeting with their counselor any time, as well. Information on how to do this can be found on the ISB Class of 2022 Canvas page.

Student Survey
High school students will be surveyed this year by accessing a link through a Canvas announcement. The survey will be available in English and Spanish. The survey window is March 30-June 4.
Each year the District surveys students, staff, and parents to gather information for planning, program evaluation, and assessment of progress on the District's Strategic Plan.
The student survey takes about 20 minutes during the regular school day. The data gathered from the survey are anonymous; your child will not put his/her name or other identifying information on the survey. Like other surveys, results will be presented only about groups. No individual data will be reported.
Student surveys of middle and high schools include three optional questions for students to identify their gender, ethnicity / race, and sexual orientation. These questions allow for additional levels of analysis of questions on inclusion, safety and bullying.
Your child may skip questions or stop filling out the survey at any time. Refusing to participate or withdrawing from the survey does not affect your child's grades or class standing in any way. If you or your child does not want to participate, your child can read or do some other activity while his or her classmates complete the survey.
A copy of the survey is available from your child's school under the Annual Surveys tab and is posted at https://www.beaverton.k12.or.us/departments/accountabiity/research-reports
After reviewing the survey, if you do not want your child to participate, please notify scott_carey-gladney@beaverton.k12.or.us.
https://www.beaverton.k12.or.us/departments/accountabiity/research-reports
Después de revisar la encuesta, si usted no quiere que su hijo participe, por favor notifique a scott_carey-gladney@beaverton.k12.or.us.
Missed Curbside Pick Up?
You can still come to ISB to pick up your student's supplies and materials for second semester Monday through Friday from 8 am to 2 pm when school is in session.
When you arrive at ISB in your car, please use the bus drop off lane to pull up to the front of the school. Call the office at 503-356-3690 to let us know you are here. Hold a sign up in the front window with the first and last name of the ISB student(s) clearly visible - large print in bold letters really helps! Open your car's trunk and wait for staff to place your textbooks and materials in it. Staff will be wearing masks and gloves when they do this.
Walking or biking to school to pick up supplies and materials is discouraged at this time due to safety reasons.
