Peek at the Week

We will be wrapping up the quarter this coming week and complete STEP reading assessments. Last week we wrote stories about our winter break adventures and completed our quarter two writing and reading benchmark assessments. This week, students will work on writing how-to papers. We will also be using this week to review recently learned grammar concepts. This week's spelling lesson is Unit 3 Lesson 4. Check out!

Lemonade Stand Donation - Also, we are in need of some donations for our lemonade stands! The students will be creating their own business plan, slogan, and poster to present to a 2nd grade class. If you are able to donate a box of Oreos, a can of frozen lemonade, a box of Dixie cups, or a pitcher by Friday please let me know. Thanks!!

Last week students began a new unit on Canada. We learned about the similarities and differences between Canada and the Unites States, how Canada came to be its own country, and the different regions of Canada. There will be a short test on Thursday. The study guide will be handed out on Monday.

Each month students should bring in examples of the monthly character trait to hang on our class bulletin board. January's trait is Self-Control.

Reminder- Lower School students should not be bringing in electronic devices to school. If they do, they should not be visible at any time. If they are, they will be confiscated. We are not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged items.

What did you learn about Canada?

What does a How-To paper need? What is the purpose of a How-To paper?

What does self control mean? Why is showing self control important? Give examples of how you show self control on a daily basis.

***Bring an example of SELF CONTROL in the media and bring it to class to hang on the bulletin board.***
