Guilford County, located in the piedmont region of North Carolina, has been rich in history since it establishment in 1771. Guilford was named after Francis North, 1st Earl of Guilford who was the British Prime Minister from 1770 to 1782.

We are currently in between County Managers and City Managers, so names are currently unlisted for these offices. Our current Mayor is Nancy B. Vaughn.

County Government
All boards and councils meet at our courthouse in Greensboro, NC. The courthouse has a rich history. The Battle of Guilford Courthouse was fought just north of what is now Greensboro and it was a major turning point in the Revolutionary War.
