HMS Bearcat Bulletin

April 2019

A Note from Ms. Buschmann

We have almost made it to our short Spring Break. Once we return, MAP testing will begin. While we sincerely believe that students are much more than a test score, this is the way the state has chosen to measure academics. We want students to be able to put their best foot forward on the test by getting adequate rest, a good breakfast, and by attending school on the day of the test. Keeping this normal schedule, rather than having to be pulled from class for a make-up exam provides a better testing environment. HMS will be testing from Wednesday, April 24 through Friday, May 10. The first week will be the science test for 5th and 8th-grade, followed by testing for all grades, 5-8, in English Language Arts during week 2 of testing and Math the third week of testing.

The make-up days for the snow/ice days we have had so far are February 18; April 18; and May 16, 17, 20, 21 and 22.

Kid Flix 5th and 6th-Grade Musical Production

Fifth and Sixth-grade students have been working hard in music class and have had several rehearsals during bearcat time to bring you this great production. Please join us in the Hermann High School Auditorium on April 30. Students should arrive by 5:00 wearing jeans and any shirt as a shirt for the program will be provided. The program will begin at 6:30.

Trash Bag Fundraiser

All trash bag orders and money were due this past Tuesday. If there are any still floating out there, please return them to the office as soon as possible. Trash bag pick-up is Wednesday, April 30.

After- School Homework Help

We have had several students take advantage of the time and teacher support provided at after-school homework help. Please remember that your child can stay Tuesdays and Thursdays from after school until 4:30 p.m. Any student is welcome to join us, but we expect that they have something to work on or read. Please send a note with your child on each day he or she will stay after school so we know that he or she will have a ride home.
