Meet Sally Chiu
Sally is our new library assistant at Lost Creek. She is very knowledgeable about the library and can help you if I am not available. Sally has two children, Kaitlyn, a first grader at Lost Creek and Tyler, who is 4. Her husband Alan is a professor at Rose Hulman, teaching biomedical engineering. She has a sweet Westie puppy named Pika! She has lived in Canada, Louisiana and now, Indiana. She speaks four languages and loves to craft.
Computer Labs
If you are the last class using a computer lab, please have your students shut down the computers using the button on the tower NOT on the monitor. The monitor buttons are fragile, and they break often. We just leave the monitors on because they go to sleep anyway.
Many are complaining that a mouse(s) on computers in D lab do not work. The computers in the labs are in deep freeze. If a mouse is unplugged from the spot I had it plugged in to, and plugged in to a different USB port, the computer has trouble locating it, because it only remembers the original plug and has to work harder to find it. I plugged in and tried every mouse last week. They all worked. Now I see many plugged in to different USB ports, and they are not working. If you come across a mouse that is not working, please write down the computer number (written on the tower), and leave me a note on my desk, or on email. Please do not unplug the mouse and try it in another port. I will check it out.
If you come across headphones that do not work, please leave me a note with the computer number included, and I will check those out as well.
B wing lab computers are slow to connect to the internet when they are first turned on. Sally and I are turning on all the computers first thing in the morning now, but sometimes students turn them off. If this happens, it takes between 3-5 minutes for the internet connection to work.
