Columbia Heights Public Schools
Aug. 13, 2020 Update
Fall Activities Registration Now Open
Activities offered this fall include boys soccer, girls soccer, girls tennis, and girls swim & dive.
The Minnesota State High School League – which provides leadership regarding school activities programming – decided earlier this month to move football and girls volleyball to a spring season. Bowling has also been moved to a spring season. No decision regarding adapted soccer has been made at this time. More information on practice opportunities for football, volleyball and spring sports will be forthcoming.
Given the unprecedented times, new safety practices are being implemented to ensure the safety of athletes, coaches and potential spectators.
All practices begin Monday, Aug.17 unless otherwise noted. Columbia Academy boys soccer will begin Monday, Sept. 14.
Application for Educational Benefits (Free & Reduced Lunch)
Columbia Heights Public Schools offers educational benefits to qualifying families including free and reduced-price meals. Despite COVID-19 making this a unique school year, families still need to submit a new Application for Educational Benefits to ensure families and the district receive benefits for the 2020-2021 school year.
Educational Benefits can help both your family and Columbia Heights Public Schools.
The District encourages ALL families to fill out an application every year.
Back-to-School Student Needs Survey
Columbia Heights Public Schools (CHPS) recently announced its 2020-2021 Back-to-School plan as approved by the School Board earlier this month. The District plans to begin the school year in the Modified Hybrid Phase where students will start learning via Heights from Home (distance learning) with small groups of identified students learning on site on specified days based on student need and staffing considerations.
A survey was emailed to all families on Aug. 5 to collect specific information about your intentions for returning to school. If you have not completed the survey, please do so for each student as soon as possible.
