#EdCampBigSky Update 1

1st of three updates headed your way in the coming weeks.

#EdCampBigSky is almost here!

The organizing committee has been hard at work, and we are excited for an amazing day of learning, sharing, growing and connecting–with all of you!

As of today, we have 158 attendees registered. That's incredible! Educators are coming from all over the region–Dillon, Billings, Missoula, Deer Lodge, Helena, Bozeman... and everywhere in between! We are so grateful that you're traveling such distances! Some Wyoming #eduheroes may be in the house, as well!

We will be a diverse crowd. All grades, content areas and specialties will be represented. We'll even have some fabulous pre-service teachers joining in the fun. We can't wait to meet all of you!

Now, on to some important business:

Got Food?

Yes!

Our EdCamp venue is not walkable to local restaurants, so we've decided to bring two great food trucks to you: Grille 406 & Totally Tasty

You can also bring your own bag lunch, if you prefer.

We would appreciate some very "loose" input on which option you might select. Please complete this absurdly short survey. This will help the food trucks anticipate how to prep for the day! (You are not committing to anything right now.)

Morning Food:

When you arrive at 8am, we will have coffee and bagels for you. :)

Bringing Your "A" Game

An Edcamp is not your typical "sit and get" conference. In fact, it's an "unconference", remember?

This means it takes all of us (you, and you, and YOU!) to make this an #eduawesome day. Watch the Edcamp 101 video below, and GET PUMPED! Bring your ideas, your questions, your enthusiasm, and your passion. This day is for us as educators, but it's as much for our students; what we share with one another on November 5th will help us grow our craft and get inspired to bring innovation and creativity back to our classrooms.

Let's do it for the kids!

Raffle Prizes!

We have some amazing prizes to raffle off at the end of the day. Everyone will be entered to win, so don't slip past the check-in table when you arrive!

You can check our sponsor page to see the full list, but here are a few to pique your interest!

Twitter: Why You Need It

Twitter is used extensively at EdCamps, because it's a powerful way to share the learning happening throughout the day. We will use the hashtag #edcampBigSky to keep our resources organized in one place. Search #edcampBigSky on Twitter and see what comes up!

If you're not on Twitter already, we encourage you to create your account before #edcampBigSky. Below are some resources to get you started.

Check out these two Twitter chats in the coming weeks:

#MTedchat - Tuesdays, 8pm MST

#BSD7chat - 1st and 3rd Wednesdays, 8pm MST (October 19, November 2, November 16)

The next #BSD7chat is October 19th. Our topic is... Edcamps! We hope you'll join us.
