Photosynthesis and Cell respiration

Two things keeping cells alive

Cell respiration

Cell respiration is the process of creating ATP. Cell Respiration occurs in the mitochondria, and is essential to all life. ATP is used for most activities, so athletes will use cellular respiration a lot more than their sedentary counterparts.

The chemical equation is...

C6H12O6 + 6O2 + 6H2O 12H2O + 6 CO2

Photosynthesis is found in plant cells, and occurs in the chloroplasts. Photosynthesis is essential to all life, as it is the start of energy in the food chain, and the world. Photosynthesis takes raw sunlight, and converts it into sugars, that the plant can use to nourish itself.

The Chemical equation is...

6CO2 + 6H2O ------> C6H12O6 + 6O2
