Principal's Principles

Health Hub
With the Flu Season fast approaching, I felt this would be a great time to review "when to keep your child home".
1. Has a fever of 100 degrees or more-fever should return to normal for 24 hours before returning to school
2. Has been diagnosed with a contagious disease (strep throat, pink eye, impetigo, ringworm to name a few) Children should be on medications for 24 hours before returning to school
3. Has been vomiting during the night or before school
4. Has had persistent diarrhea during the night or before school
5. Has red, swollen eyes that itch and are draining or crusty appearance upon waking
6. Has productive cough that can not be controlled with medication
7. Has a rash that is open, draining or a fever that is present with rash
8. Has been diagnosed with a different communicable disease that is not listed. Please feel free to call the nurse to discuss when your child should return to school.
I would also like to take a moment to remind families to get your flu vaccine, not only are you protecting yourself, you are also protecting others you are in contact with from getting the flu!
I have been updating immunization records and sending home notes to those needing immunizations. If you have any questions on if or when your child is due, please feel free to contact me, I will help look up records and determine what is due.

The B.E.S.T. Universal Screener for Students K4-6
Last year we started utilizing the B.e.s.t. Universal Screening Tool to support our students behavioral health, we are excited to continue using the B.e.s.t. this year. During the month of October teachers in grades PK-6 will be completing a behavior screening tool on each of their students called the Behavioral Emotional Social Traits (b.e.s.t.) Universal Screening tool. The b.e.s.t. focuses on identifying internalizing and externalizing behaviors of our students.
The b.e.s.t. will be completed by teachers by the end of October, and will be available at school for your review. The results of the tool will be used to provide identified students with mentoring, social skill building and other supports to help them engage positively in learning as well as continuing to support behavioral health for all children.
From the Office
- Beginning on November 1st, calls for bus or pick-up changes need to be into the office by 2:00 pm.
- Reminder that all behavior expectations are listed in the Student/Parent Handbook both online and in the office.
- OUTDOOR CLOTHING REMINDER: As the weather turns colder, please send your child with appropriate clothing for outdoor recess. Under 50 degrees requires a sweatshirt or jacket. Under 40 degrees requires hat, gloves/mittens, and jacket. Students will be required to have snow-pants and boots on the playground when there is snow on the ground in order to go off of the blacktop area. If you are in need of outdoor clothing for your child, please contact the office or the School Counselor as things are sometimes donated.
