Youth Leadership Symposium
On Friday, November 3, our Student Council sponsor, Avery Findling, took ten Student Council members to attend a Youth Leadership Symposium at Truman. Schools from the surrounding area discussed how to better their school community with a specific focus on creating a drug-free environment. A keynote speaker presented her story of how drug overdose has affected her family and why she spreads awareness. Students learned about the dangers of drug use, challenges of mental health, prevention strategies, and engaging ways to encourage living drug-free. Additionally, our students were challenged to identify a problem at WMMS and create a plan to address the problem. Students had a lengthy productive, round table discussion sharing different problems they recognized and how we can positively solve them. Students were in the beginning stages of planning and will continue to meet and work on plans moving forward. See the pictures below for an insight into this day. We are thankful to have student leaders in our building!
The book fair is coming! November 15th -22nd in the WMMS Library!
