Muldoon Newsletter - April 2022
A Note From Mr. Grant 👨🏻🏫
Dear Muldoon Families 🐻,
Welcome to Spring! April is here and that brings with it AK STAR state testing and sunshine. Please ensure that your children have plenty of rest and appropriate clothing for the changing weather outside.
The last quarter of the school year can be difficult for students. The weather makes being indoors hard. Please encourage your children to finish the school year strong! All the knowledge gained by students in the final quarter will be directly relevant to the next grade the student is entering.
Parent feedback is critical to our success here at Muldoon. There are several upcoming opportunities for parents to have an active role in the vision-setting process at school.
· Parent representative on the interview team 📝– hiring the professionals that serve your children is one of the most important acts. Please notify the school if you are interested in this important work
· Evaluation of School-Wide Plan 📋 – Parents are invited to join the Title I leadership team in the evaluation of the school-wide plan. Contact the office for more info.
Upcoming Events 🗓️
· Spring Fling Egg Hunt – Saturday, April 2nd @ 9:30 AM
· Kindergarten Roundup – April 21st, 22nd & 25th - see below for more info
· Bike to School Day – May 4th
· Super Sweepers – May 7th
Thank you for your continued support and here’s to a great month!
Take care,
Leroy Grant
Principal
Help us - Help you! 📝
Every spring, the Anchorage School District provides a survey to families, staff, and students (grades 3-12) regarding the climate of their school community. This survey information is very important, as it helps us learn how people feel about learning and working in our schools. This survey helps us to grow as a school and as a part of this community. We thank you in advance for your time!

Day Light and Sleep - Help for Parents in Considering Their Kids Needs
As daylight increases kids sleep might be adjusting as well. Here is an article from the American Academy of Pediatrics you can share with families about the amount of sleep kids need at different ages and the need for sleep routines. This short video is in the article and could easily be shared through remind or social media. Every child is different sometimes it's helpful to remind parents these types of tools are only a guideline and to watch for signs of how their kid is doing.

COVID 😷 testing at Muldoon
Hello Muldoon~
I'm so excited to let you know that ASD has new free COVID testing options IN MULDOON Elementary. This is perfect timing, as many of our community testing sites are very busy with fewer hours and days they are open.
This test is easy (nose swab or spit cup) and fast (results are texted that night, sometimes 24 hours). It is also accurate if you are sick or asymptomatic, which means we can test as often as you like to keep our community and schools healthy.
Call us in the office if you are interested in getting a test!
