A Note from the Editor
We at the Cohen Career Center hope you are settling in well as fall term begins and that you had a restful, productive, and fun summer. We would also like to introduce the new public service careers team here at Cohen - Tonya and Ryan! Tonya brings 20 years of progressive experience in career services. She will oversee the development of programming and opportunities for students seeking careers with government agencies and nonprofit organizations. Ryan is a graduate assistant who is in her first year of the M.Ed in Higher Education Leadership program in the School of Education. Together they are a dynamic duo who will advise you in your professional endeavors and goals, whether they be domestic or abroad, and they greatly look forward to working with you.

Design Your Next Step
How many times has someone asked you what do you want to be when you grow up? The reality is that people change jobs and careers many times over their lifetime and successfully navigating the job and internship market requires you to know WHO you are and WHAT problems you wish to solve.
Design Your Next Step is a noncredit “course” open to sophomores, juniors, and seniors. It will provide a small group, interactive setting where you can learn about design thinking strategies (i.e. curiosity, ideate, prototype, test, brand) and how to use those strategies to work toward whatever your “next step” might be (finding an internship/research experience/job, exploring possible career paths, networking, graduate school).
The series will meet for 8 weeks on Thursdays from 3:30-5 PM starting September 13th.
Ready to enroll? Email Anna Umbreit (anna@wm.edu) with questions or to express your interest by Monday, September 10.
