Spring Lake Park Schools families:

Yesterday, we welcomed K-6 learners back to our school buildings. There were a lot of smiling eyes, boisterous greetings and wonderful noise in the hallways. It was a good day, and we are thrilled to have so many students back in our school buildings.

Given recent declines in case numbers, we are planning toward a transition for grades 7-12 to Modified Campus (hybrid) beginning in mid-February. We met mid-week with our regional support team – which includes Minnesota Department of Health, Minnesota Department of Education and Anoka County public health representatives. They are comfortable with this plan given current trends in Anoka County case numbers. We will provide you with another update – with details on the transition plan – by next Friday, January 29.

This week, we also received a first allocation of COVID-19 vaccines for school staff. Our district was allocated 13 doses (approximately 1.5% of our staff) through the state’s pilot vaccination program. We are following state guidance to prioritize vaccinations for those at the greatest risk. While we wish it were more, we are encouraged to be beginning the vaccination process.

In a school year full of constant monitoring, transition management and many unknowns, we continue to be grateful for the support of our families. Thank you. We will update you again next week on the evolving plans for returning grades 7-12 to learning at school. In the meantime, be well.
