A Message from Mr. Hoog
Dear Brooks School Elementary Families,
I hope everyone had a wonderful summer and is eager to join us for the 2019-2020 school year! I know our entire staff is excited and ready to welcome your children! Over the summer we hired a few new staff members to BSE, we have had some physical improvements done to the building, and we’ve also had a new logo developed for our school.
We would love to welcome the following new staff members to BSE:
- Mrs. Erin Grampp (Kindergarten)
- Mrs. Elizabeth Matas (1st grade)
- Mrs. Malia Shuey (2nd grade)
- Mrs. Lauren Pearce (Art)
- Miss Dani Fox (Nurse)
We are also very excited about our new cafeteria and gym floors. The carpet in both spaces is gone and the new epoxy flooring looks great. We look forward to new cafeteria furniture that will be arriving soon after school begins. The new furniture will consist of booths and tables seating 4, 6, or 8 students. This will provide better opportunities for students to communicate with each other while dining during lunch time. When it’s all finished, our cafeteria will look spectacular and be a great space for lunch and other events throughout the year.
Furthermore, we have a new logo that we are ready to reveal! Please see the information below regarding our new BSE logo.
I highly encourage you to read the remainder of this Bear Bulletin for more important information about the beginning of the year. We will generally send out a Bear Bulletin via Skylert to all families every two weeks to help keep you informed of happenings at BSE. Please also keep an open line of communication with your child’s teacher throughout the year and I also encourage you to become involved with our PTO and engage in the many events and volunteer activities that will be available.
Thanks so much for your support of our great school and I look forward to seeing you soon!
Mr. Hoog
New School Logo
Big news! We are releasing an updated brand identity, which includes a new logo, revised colors, and font. Be on the lookout for our fresh look that will be popping up around school and in the community, including our website and Twitter.
We believe the new logo matches what we’ve become as a school; a provider of a world-class educational experience that is student-driven. In the future, you’ll see other Hamilton Southeastern Schools with updated visuals. With this change, we hope that it’s easier to identify that while there are 22 different buildings within our district, we are connected to each other.
We hope that you will enjoy the fun, exciting look of our bear as much as we do!

SafeVisitor Reminder
Allergy Friendly School Environment
Here at Brooks School Elementary, we make the safety and well-being of every student our top priority. That’s why we’re going to continue our pilot to reduce students’ exposure to peanuts and tree nuts. We want all of our families to be aware, not just our allergy families.
During the 2019-20 school year, BSE is going to continue to be an allergy friendly building. In order to do this, we need your help. We ask that you consider alternatives to anything containing peanuts or other tree nuts, such as: almonds, pecans, walnuts, cashews, and pistachios. The cafeteria will continue serving meals that are peanut and tree nut free.
Please remember if your child has a severe food allergy, it is imperative that you notify the school nurse. Also, if they require an Epi-pen, emergency medication orders must be signed by the child’s physician each school year.
Becoming a peanut and nut-friendly building is a collaborative effort. Students will not be punished if they bring in food containing nuts, so we cannot guarantee that children with allergies will not have accidental exposure.
This is a learning process for all of us, but we trust that you understand how important is to respect and adhere to these guidelines.
