CSD Weekly Update
WEEK #28, March 26, 2021, Cambrian School District
Dear Cambrian Families,
What a wonderful week in the Cambrian School District! We officially had all of our Preschool-8th grade students return that requested to return for in-person instruction. Our 7th and 8th graders returned this week to Steindorf and Ida Price Middle School campuses. Both students and staff alike are thrilled to be back on campus. The positive energy on all of our campuses is so invigorating. It is nice to have students back on our campuses once again.
Other good news to share: most of the Cambrian School Staff have either received their second COVID-19 vaccination or will be getting their second dose in the next week. It is wonderful that all school employees in San Jose have been prioritized. In addition, our food service department has been doing a fabulous job ensuring our students are fed and provided to anyone under the age of 18 a free grab-and-go meal. Since students have returned to in-person instruction, the number of meals served has increased from approximately 700 meals per day to 1,000 meals per day. A huge thank you to Cambrian’s Food Service department for feeding our students.
More important updates: On Saturday, March 20th, revised guidelines were released for schools. While federal and state guidelines have changed social distancing to 3 feet apart for students, the District will continue at this time to follow the existing Cambrian School District Covid Safety Plans (CSP) document. Cambrian administration staff will be reviewing the new guidelines to determine any potential modifications in the future. We want to adapt when possible, but also want to make sure we do it safely and methodically.
2021-22 School Year: While we celebrated having our students back on campus for the 2020-21 school year, we are also simultaneously busy planning for the 2021-22 school year. At the upcoming Board Meeting on April 2nd, the Cambrian Board of Trustees will be voting on the 2021-22 School Calendar. Once approved we will send it out to our community. Please keep your eyes out for a survey as we are investigating the possibilities of a year-long virtual program for the 2021-22 school year. This survey will determine if continuing with a virtual school program is desired in our community moving forward in the 2021-22 school year. It would be a year-long commitment to the program; different from this school year.
While this year has brought many changes, we have learned a lot and adapted. We are most certainly a resilient community working together during extraordinary times. Thank you for your continued collaboration for our students over the past 12 months. It is because of this continued effort that our staff and families have shown incredible patience and perseverance to support our students. We are Cambrian!
Attendance
As a reminder to our Cambrian Families, please contact your school’s attendance clerk to report any absences from distance learning or in-person learning. Please note: If your student is assigned to attend in person, but will not attend for any reason on their assigned day, even if they are participating by zoom, please call the school’s attendance clerk to report the absence.

Protect Your Students’ Learning Gains Over Summer!
Teachers and Counselors, Help your students stay actively learning to reduce “learning loss.” InPlay is a free online activity guide to connect students to summer programs, and keep their minds and bodies engaged over the summer.
Santa Clara County and Cambrian SD sponsored this guide to help families find local and affordable afterschool and summer camp programs. Thousands of local programs are listed on ONE searchable site, including City-funded, nonprofit and for-profit programs. The guide lists both in-person and online instructor-led activities.
Check out the site at scc.inplay.org or review this informational flyer.
Food Service Complimentary Grab & Go meal process during In-Person Instruction
As we transition back to in-person instruction, we have made slight changes to the food delivery process at our school sites. Each day your child will have a complimentary grab & go meal available to them. This will operate just like the current drive-thru process where the meal will contain a lunch for the current day as well as a breakfast for the following day. These meals will be available at the exit points around campus.
PLEASE NOTE: Due to logistics and traffic flow, Fammatre families will need to participate in the drive thru process at Price rather than picking meals up at exit points on the Fammatre campus.
The Price drive thru delivery process will continue daily from 11a - 1p as well for families in the VSP or on alternate hybrid days.
In preparation for Spring Break on Friday April 2nd, the Price drive-thru will provide meal kits for the full nine days. These meals are complimentary for any child aged 18 and younger at any of our school sites.
