Mrs. Baker's Class Newsletter
Dec. 11, 2014
What is going on?
Math: Students will independently problem solving using different mental math strategies.
*We will need two packs of gummy bears. Please let me know if you can donate.
Reading: We will hunt for nouns, verbs, and adjectives in our independent reading texts. We will discuss how our favorite authors use these parts of speech to write the interesting sentences we enjoy reading!
Writing: We will be learning about antonyms and synonyms. In Writing Workshop we will be wrapping up imaginative writing. We will be editing and revising our stories like real authors.
Science: We will observe and identify how magnets are used in everyday life. Students will explore with magnets, and understand how magnets attract and repel. We will also explore the wonders of the magnetic field.
Future Report Card:
An X on the report card indicates the specific content strand has not been introduced in the content area for the second nine weeks.
In the content area of math, the strand “describes length, area, and time”, the concept of area has not been taught during this nine weeks, therefore, the highest grade will be a 2.
Baptist Children’s Home book drive:
Please remember we are collecting 3/4 year old books for the Baptist Children’s home. Please bring in one book wrapped for a child. I appreciate your generous spirit.
