The Battle of Brandywine

Intro
The Battle of Brandywine was an important battle, it allowed the British to capture Phillidalpia. General Howe was an intelligent officer. He flanked the colonists and spread them out. There were a lot of interesting things that happened in the Battle of Brandywine. Some of the British results were much different than the colonists. The Battle of Brandywine was an important battle because it let the British take Philadelphia.

There were many important generals that played key roles in the battle. William Howe was the British General. George Washington was the colonists general. Some other generals were, Marquis de Lafayette, Henry Knox, and James Monroe. Howe split up his army 5,000 and 10,000, when the colonists saw the 10,000 approaching they thought it was the full army. They didn't see the 5,000 flanking British. Casimir Pulaski was a Polish general who helped Washington by gathering a group of Cavalrymen to help. Those were some important generals who changed the battle.

These are some interesting facts that go along with the battle. The British sailed up the Chesapeake Bay. The battle was on September 11, 1777. Also there was a heavy fog that concealed the British. First There was 10,000 men who went straight on to the colonists. When Washington noticed the 5,000 flanking British he stationed his men along the river. Those were some interesting facts that go with the war.
Causes and Results
There were many different causes of the battle and they led to results. The colonists went into the battle very confident. They ended up losing. However they kept up morale and did not give up. Philadelphia was the capitol at the time and was captured. During the battle there were only 600 British casualties. There was 1,000 American. Those were some of the causes and results.

In brief the Battle of Brandywine was important because the colonists lost control of Philadelphia. There were many important generals that changed the outcome of the battle. There was a lot of interesting facts to do with the battle. In conclusion the Battle of Brandywine was important because Philadelphia was captured.
