Building an Asia-capable workforce
Asia has for a long time been the largest and most populous continent in the world, comprising around 60% of the world's population. Economically however, it has lagged behind the powerhouses of Europe and North America, until recently. During the Global Financial Crisis of 2008 which saw many Western economies suffer from declines in GDP and falling growth rates, Asia showed its resilience and gave the world one of the first indications of its ability as a global economic powerhouse.
Twenty years ago, Asia accounted for 17% of the world's economy. Now Asia has a 25 per cent share of global GDP and this, according to the latest ANZ insight report, ‘Caged Tiger: The Transformation of the Asian Financial System’, will rise to more than 50 per cent by 2050*. Given the rapid growth of the Asian economy, it is essential for both business and individuals to understand how to best equip themselves for this transition, to ensure success in the "Asian Century".
We invite you to share in this rare opportunity to hear reflections from ANZ Chief Executive Officer Mike Smith on leading a business through the wave of Asian growth. This evening is not to be missed for those interested in learning how we can best prepare ourselves to build an Asia-capable workforce.
This exciting event is made possible due to the support of ANZ and Asialink.
