Social Studies Needs Your Help!

Social Studies is completing a dodecahedron project at the end of this week and the beginning of next week. Each student needs 12 paper plates. Any donations would be greatly appreciated. Here is an example of the type of plates we need. Thank you for your continued support of the 8th-grade house.

Important Dates for 8th Graders - Save the Date!

Passages will be Friday, May 27th at MGMS. There will be two sessions on this date. One will begin at 11 am and the other at 1pm. Your child should be discussing with you what times are most convenient for you and your family. You will not want to miss these thoughtful reflections of our 8th graders.

What exactly is Passages? A Passages presentation is an opportunity for students to reflect upon their learning and demonstrate readiness for the next phase of their educational experience...high school. EL Education Schools provide this experience and opportunity to eighth-grade students to help them improve upon public speaking and to prepare them for student-led conferences. This year, students will present their Passages in a group setting to parents, family and other adults.

This year, Passages presentations will focus upon the Habits of Scholarship as they pertained to a middle school educational experience. Students will provide specific examples of how they displayed the Habits of Scholarship in an exemplary way.

8th Grade Celebration will be Tuesday, May 31st at 6:30 at River Bluff High School. We will recognize all 8th-grade students during this special ceremony.

Blowfish Baseball Reading Program

Want to receive two FREE tickets to a Blowfish baseball game? MGM is participating in the Lexington County Blowfish Baseball Reading program, where students can receive up to two FREE general admission tickets, a chance to run around the bases, and a free hot dog and Coke at the July 20th game. All that is required is that students read 4 days a week for 30 minutes for 4 weeks from April 18th May 13th. Click here for more information.
