Face-to-Face Classes Resume Tuesday, January 19

We are incredibly excited to welcome back our face-to-face students on Tuesday and return to “normal.” When the kids arrive, they will notice an addition in the spaces where they spend their time: we have invested in 25 air purifiers for the building, so that every classroom, office space, and the lunchroom may have properly circulating and cleansed air. We believe that the $4,000 expense was necessary to ensure everyone’s safety, and are hopeful that title funds will cover the cost.

PayPal Classroom Contest Winners!

What a week! Our contest yielded a whopping $5,380 with only 13 families working their contacts. See how quickly it can all add up? Some of our students even broke open their own piggy banks to contribute. No donation is ever too small.

5th Grade brought in the most individual donations: 26 different people donated on behalf of three families, for a total of $1400. 8th Grade raised the most money: $2885 on behalf of four families. 5th and 8th Grades may dress down on Friday, January 22 and will also enjoy a special treat at lunch time that day. Every family, regardless of grade, who raised any funds during the competition will receive a commemorative St. Ann tumbler for participating in the contest. Congratulations and thank you!

Totals By Grade:

PreK: $25

Kindergarten: $25

1st Grade: $175

2nd Grade: $65

3rd Grade: $120

4th Grade: $310

5th Grade: $1400

6th Grade: $65

7th Grade: $310

8th Grade: $2885

We aren't finished fundraising to cover this year's deficit and keep St. Ann School going for years to come, but we are getting closer to our goal! Our total today stands at $114,870.38 on our way to the $150k we promised to raise. See "Help Save Our School" below for the many different ways you can ask your donors to contribute.

Leaders Are Readers

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 20, 6:00 p.m.

Join us for Leaders Are Readers, our twice-monthly virtual story time. The link to join will be emailed that afternoon. In addition to two student readers, we will also welcome local author Vicky Weber this week! Ms. Weber is a musician and an elementary educator with a love for children's literature. While she has taught a variety of grade levels, primary level education is where her passion lies. Not only will she read to us from some of her books, she will also answer your questions about writing! You can find her books on Amazon.

Would your child like to read? Or do you or someone else you know want to be a guest reader? Interested readers should email Mrs. Rivas with the book you would like to read:

School Board Meeting

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 20, 7:00 p.m.

As always, all parents and faculty are welcome to attend. We will be discussing the fundraising measures aimed at keeping the school open, and hope that you will join us on Google Meet:

Time to Send in Those Holiday Stracks Receipts!

We will be emptying the classroom envelopes next week so that Mrs. Rivas can send in a batch before the end of the month. Receipts dated through March 1 are valuable to us. Keep asking your friends to save for you!

Help Save Our School!

As you have heard, the Archdiocese of Chicago has tasked us with raising $150,000 to cover this year’s deficit or face probable closure at the end of the current school year. One of the contributing factors to our large shortfall this year is the fact that we did not charge our usual refundable Volunteer Deposit since we can’t use volunteers during the pandemic, and thus, there are no opportunities to earn it back. In reality, very few families put in enough time to earn this fee back every year, so we usually end up with about $30k that helps cover school expenses.

Would you consider “volunteering” your $300 Volunteer Fee

for the Angel Program?

If every school family were to contribute at least $300, we could add $30k to the pot very quickly. You will also receive a limited edition St. Ann tumbler (other donors have to give at least $1,000 in order to receive one of these!) and some other St. Ann surprises. And of course if you can give more, or rally others to go in with you on a larger donation, it would be an even bigger help. After #GivingTuesday, our total has now reached $58,000 in pledges and donations. Help us keep that positive momentum going!

Set your pledge up online at, or complete the pledge form you received and return to school with your check or credit card information. If you prefer to process your donation as a pledge, your card will be charged $30 per month over 10 months for a $300 pledge. Thank you!

Together we can do this!

Thank you, thank you to everyone who has already donated or referred donors to us!
