The Leader In Me Update
It has been an exciting time for celebrating great leadership at Heritage Elementary. We are working to ensure that every student participates in a leadership role by the end of the school year. Every quarter, seven students from each class will be selected by teachers to receive Leader in Me awards.
We also had a school-wide Pep Rally where we refreshed our memories with each habit. At this Pep Rally, students were also informed about Leader in Me Clubs that we will soon begin implementing. Students were encouraged to pick their top three clubs they would like to be a member of. Our teachers are in the process of planning these club days as we speak.

Heritage Elementary is proud to be a part of the Leader in Me program. The program provides our school with the vision and language that addresses all areas of development. Every student at Heritage can develop their own unique gifts and talents and are given opportunities to lead. Our habit of focus for the month of December is Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind. Habit 2 is the habit of vision or the habit of having a plan. Students will be learning the importance of setting goals that are both specific and achievable, the importance of having a plan, creating a mental picture, and thinking ahead. Students will also be learning about their own values, principles, and what matters most, because leaders show what they value through their actions. At home, talk to your student about their goals at school and outside of school. Share with them some of your own goals and maybe write a New Year’s resolution together. Create attainable goals as a family and the steps needed to meet the goal. Track your progress, have fun, and be sure to celebrate once the goals have been met!

1st Nine Weeks
As we have finally gotten back in to the routine of school, we would like to let you know that due to the time constraints and finalization of grades per our District Office, we will not be holding a "formal" nine weeks award ceremony because of the revised calendar. However, each individual class will be giving student awards for Leader in Me, Perfect Attendance, Honor Roll, and Principal's List. Administration will be notified of students receiving awards so they can also be recognized in the front office. Students' names for Honor Roll and Principal's List will also be submitted to The Daily News.
Thank you for your understanding!
From our family to yours, Heritage Elementary School would like to wish our families Happy Holidays! May the New Year bring you lots of good health, prosperity, love, and happiness! Travel safely on any family adventures and enjoy each other's company!
We are looking forward to seeing everyone in 2019!
