CONGRATULATIONS TO MRS. CYNTHIA TUCKER - OCS TEACHER OF THE YEAR FINALIST!!!
SHOUT OUTS!!!
Do you have a shout-out for a colleague who has done something great? Send them to me, and I'll post them here. I'll start with a few:
- Congratulations to Mrs. Tucker for being named a FINALIST for OCS Teacher of the Year. Please come out to the OCS board meeting at Blue Creek Elementary on October 3rd at 6:30pm as Mrs. Tucker is recognized by the board!
- Shout out to Mr. Shreckengost, Mrs. Roberts, Ms. Dransoff, and Mr. Tucker for hosting the 1st ever OCS marching band preview showcase. The stadium was packed all day with band fans, and our Marching Wildcat Regiment performed an AMAZING show!
- Shout out to our school social worker Ms. Harmon for helping RHS to become the newest school to participate in the CHEW program.
Notes from the RHS Administrative Team
- If you have not completed your PDP, please do so.
- If you wear a college shirt, you may wear jeans on Thursdays.
- If you have paid your membership to the PRIDE group, you may also wear jeans with RHS spirit wear on Fridays.
- There have been some questions regarding what type of leave you should use for specific situations. See the district policy here: http://images.pcmac.org/Uploads/OnslowCounty/OnslowCounty/Departments/DocumentsSubCategories/Documents/7510.pdf
- When you enter a referral in ABE, please only use infraction codes that start with zeros. The "one" codes are invalid.
- When coding discipline, only use "major" for one of the 16 reportable offenses, found here: http://www.ncpublicschools.org/research/discipline/offenses/ All others are coded as "minor."
- Wednesdays are reserved for staff-level meetings. Please be aware of faculty, team, and department meetings when scheduling after-school functions and IEP meetings.
- Progress reports have gone out for the first six weeks. Please schedule parent conferences for ALL at-risk students. We need to meet parents face-to-face early for students that are in danger of failing.
- Please remember that if you need to leave campus, you must speak personally with an administrator, then sign out in the office.
- 9/27: SPT meeting @ 2:30pm in Hut 4 (voting on new organizations)
Power Hour Notes
Power Hour is going GREAT on our campus. Your planning and work to make this happen is evident, and there has been MUCH positive feedback from students and parents. Thank you!!!
A few things to note:
- During Power Hour, EC Services will be in classrooms. Students should not be reporting to Hut 1 for EC Services. That is designated office space.
- If you serve a B Block duty please make sure the person knows you are relieving them.
- PLC Forms from each PLC need to be turned into Mr. Staley on the same day the PLC meets.
- We have noted there are not enough enrichments for students on certain days. If you are willing to host another enrichment or want to have back to back enrichments please let someone on the Powerhour committee know.
ACT Prep
- ACT Prep students should only be released early from 3rd period on Mondays and Thursdays, and only if they are purchasing lunch.
- If your student is in ACT prep, and is required to attend tutoring, please speak with Mrs. Jarman or Mrs. Tucker to arrange the time. They should be able to complete their ACT prep work and attend tutoring.
