PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Kia ora koutou,
Welcome to Tommy who is a new student in Room 23. Well done on making such a great start to school Tommy.
Big Night Out
A massive thank you to Bridget Hansen and her amazing team for all their hard work in putting on a fun community night at the Havelock Club on Saturday night. Thank you also to the wonderful sponsors and those of you who attended. There were a number of fantastic costumes on display and I understand the figure raised will be around $29,000 which is amazing.
A special thanks also to our awesome MC's Craig Sampson and John Allen. I hope your voices are still intact gentlemen.
Batty Mufti Day
The Mufti Day in support of the long tailed bat raised $1,112.60. What a wonderful effort team! A special thank you to Sue Jarvis and Tamsin Hains for their sterling work.
Learning Conferences
Thank you very much to everyone who was able to connect with our teachers last week. I trust you found these meetings to be constructive and worthwhile. Thank you for your time and working together for the good of our students.
Kids Sing
All the best to our Choir who take part in the Kids Sing competition tomorrow. They have been training hard with Mrs Strand and Mrs Cameron and we wish these students all the very best.

** PEAK TRAIL BLAZER – OPEN FOR ENTRIES **
We are excited to officially launch the Peak Trail Blazer 2022 and open entries for this fundraising event on November 20th. We were thrilled to present over $18,000 to Havelock North Primary and Re-Source Charity last week! Even though the 2021 event didn’t take place, our community and sponsors were incredibly generous, choosing to donate sponsorship and entries to the fundraising cause. This means Re-Source can get more storage to provide for families in need and the school is on track to upgrade the school turf next term - a great asset for our community. The PTB is a 100% fundraising event and we thank you all for your support. We are proud to be supporting Re-Source and HNPS again this year. You can enter the PTB at www.peaktrailblazer.co.nz
The Peak Trail Blazer T-Shirts can again be worn in Term 4 as school uniform. This year we are introducing a navy blue dri-fit t-shirt which will be more breathable for walking and running. We will only be doing one t-shirt order this year and t-shirts are going to be distributed at the end of this term. We are also running a t-shirt photo competition for the children with more details to come. T-shirts can be ordered at https://eventplus.net/PTB22. The final day for t-shirt orders will be 16th September, so please place your orders.
Remember the Tainui Trail Run does sell out, so make sure you get your entries in and don’t miss out.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank our gold sponsors for getting in behind this event again. We really appreciate the support from Wee Doo Loos, Local Yolkels, Hawthorne Coffee, Peak Fitness, Bramwell Bates, Hamish Kerr Share NZ, Hastings Top 10, Tremains, Havelock North New World, Eye Institute Hawke’s Bay and First Chiropractic.
We are looking forward to seeing you and your families on the start line on November 20th.
If you would like to support in any way or help volunteer on the day please contact Race Director Catherine Wedd at catherinew@bostock.nz or 0212886770.

School Books
School Books.
We need your help!
Firstly, occasionally our school readers inadvertently get left at home. We really need to have them returned. Our bookroom is looking quite sad as we no longer have full sets of books to use with our reading groups. It costs a great deal to keep our supply of reading resources current and adequate in number to ensure each child has access to books at an appropriate level. So, please send in any books you may have at home.
Also, could you please ensure that your child returns their reading book straight back to their bookbag after it has been read - to help keep it from being damaged. As unfortunately we have had a lot returned beyond repair. Thank you for your support with this.

Enviro Corner - Week 4
Last Friday was totally ‘batty’ at HNPS! Bats, batman, bat girl, pink bats and wacky batty children filled every nook and cranny of the school. Well done to all the children who entered the art and poster competition. The Year 5 judges had a hard job sorting out the winners!
We are thrilled to announce the highest ever total for a mufti day $1122.60
Representatives from DOC who attended our assembly were overwhelmed by the generosity and passion shown by the children. This money will be used to help with research, transmitters and pest control to help the critically endangered Long Tailed Bat (Pekapeka).
I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Tamsin, Lucia and the Year 5 Enviro Team who have led the Endangered Organisms awareness campaign over the last 10 weeks.
Good Caps
On Monday HNP staff and Bledisloe school engaged in Nanogirl Professional Development sponsored through the Good Caps Programme. This was a fun and practical session which developed science knowledge around plastics - manufacturing, recycling and sustainability. The teachers explored fun and practical ideas for taking back to the classroom and our science lab.
Please keep the plastic and metal caps rolling in:)
