In-coming 7th Grade Students Must Have T-DAP Vaccines
Students must get the T-DAP immunization BEFORE they begin the 7th grade! If the office has not received immunization documentation by the first day of school, students will not be able to start school. Please schedule an appointment early; the health department is only providing immunizations a few days a month.
After your student receives the immunization, please get the SC Department of Immunization record and turn it in to Robin Rosa as soon as possible. For more information, please email the Southwood Academy school nurse, Robin Rosa. The parent letter from SC DHEC is below.

Westside Winter Guard
The Westside High School Winter Guard would like to invite any current 7th-12th grade student to participate in the upcoming season. Conditioning for Winter Guard will take place on November 13, 15, and 19 from 4-6 pm. A mandatory audition will be held on November 20 at 4 pm. For more information, please contact Mr. Wood at Robert Anderson or Mrs. Loudermilk at Westside. We hope to see you there.
Thanksgiving Survey
We have the results from the Thanksgiving Day Survey and some were interesting. Here are the results:
-The most common Thanksgiving activity: helping in the kitchen.
-Kitchen helpers are more than twice as likely to say that they can’t choose a favorite food because they are all good. (53% vs 24%)
-The favorite Thanksgiving food is mac and cheese, but most people love all the food.
-A lot of people like to watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
-People who watch the parade are almost three times more likely to decorate for Christmas before Thanksgiving. (49% vs 18%)
-Most people either decorate for Christmas after Thanksgiving or before Thanksgiving. Only 10% of people said that they decorate on Thanksgiving.
-27% of the people who took this quiz travel for Thanksgiving.
Hope you all have a great break eating, playing, and visiting with family and friends.
Anderson Christmas Tree Lighting
The annual Christmas Tree Lighting will be Friday, November 30th at 6:00 pm on the main courthouse plaza. Santa will be there, and the TL Hanna Jazz Band will perform.
Anderson 5 Needs Bus Drivers
Each day Anderson School District Five transports nearly 6,000 students via bus to and from our schools. The goal of our transportation services department is to ensure that our students arrive to and from school safely and on time, but we need your help. Due to statewide bus driver shortages, the school district is offering a $500 referral incentive to any person who recommends a bus driver that is successfully employed a minimum of six months with Anderson Five. Our bus drivers earn the highest hourly rate in Anderson County, and max out at the highest rate in the Upstate. They are guaranteed a minimum of 30 hours per week, and they have no mandatory summer hours - but more importantly they play a critical role in our school system. Again, if someone you know is interested in serving their community while at the same time earning great benefits, please contact our office at 864-260-5000 ext. 10287.
