Please note that Monday, September 20, will be a minimum day because of Vision Screening, which will occur through 8th grade PE classes. School dismissal for all students will be at 11:35 am that day.
If you ordered picture packages through O'Connor, they are being sent home with students (yesterday and today). Makeup and Retake picture day is this Tuesday, September 21. Students who missed the O'Connor photo days during summer check in need to do the makeup for a yearbook photo (even if they had their picture taken in the library for their ID card). More information is being sent out in a separate email.
Thank you again for all of your support and have a fantastic weekend!
Acceptable Use Agreement for Student Technology
Among other items, the Agreement states that "A responsible user may not .... Access, post, submit, publish, or display harmful or inappropriate matter that is threatening, obscene, disruptive, or sexually explicit, or that could be construed as harassment or disparagement of others based on their race/ethnicity, national origin, sex, gender, sexual orientation, age, disability, religion, or political belief."
Sending, receiving, and/or possessing inappropriate material can result in serious school and legal consequences. We encourage you to further discuss this with your children and review the content on their phones and devices, deleting anything that may meet the above criteria. We appreciate your support as we strive towards ensuring a safe and positive learning environment for our students.
Parent Resource Symposium: Social Media
Join your community at the free annual Parent Resource Symposium and educate yourself on the dangers of social media exposure and what your child may be viewing while online. Be aware of the facts so you can better help your child navigate the influences of others.
How much screen time is recommended for children? Adolescents spend an average of 4 hours of screen time daily (this does not include distance learning). The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends no more than two hours of screen time for children and teenagers, and absolutely none for children under 2 years of age.
Get answers and information from experts in the field at the Social Media: The New Gateway Drug symposium.
