Principal's Message
As with every school year it will be bittersweet as we say good by to students and teachers who have touched our lives. I want to wish all our 8th grade students success as they transition to high school. For our students who are moving to new schools or districts, I hope that your time at Murphy has been well spent and you find that you are well-prepared for whatever challenges and opportunities lie ahead.
To our staff who are moving to new schools. I am forever grateful for the work that you have done whether you've been here for 1 year or 6. I'm terrible at good byes (or see you laters). I wish all of you nothing but success and happiness.
I will believe this until the very end.... Once a Maverick. Always a Maverick.

PTO
The PTO would like to thank you for your tremendous support this year! Thanks to your donations and spirit wear & concession purchases we were able to do a lot of good for our students and staff!
We collected $5000 in donations ($2,000 from Alderman Bugg’s office). We provided $3000 in classroom grants, helped fund a bullying presentation for Murphy students & parents, purchased 8th grade promotion gifts, organized a skating party, provided staff with numerous treats & meals and much more! None of this would be possible without our generous community!
We are pleased to announce that we can now accept donations via credit card using a very simply SignUp Genius form! If you prefer to donate via paper form, one is included here. Feel free to print it out and send it back to school with your donation check. Any family who contributes $25 or more will receive a FREE ticket to the Murphy Monster Mash!
Thank you for your continued support and we will see you all during Locker Load in August!

How do we help our kids enjoy the wonderful fun and social connectivity offered by their devices without losing their ability to hit the “Off” switch? It isn’t easy to figure this out for our kids — or ourselves.

Girls' Soccer
Last week the girls' soccer team played Traughber for the conference championship. Unfortunately, the first half was not great and we gave up 4 goals. The second half the girls came out to play and held Traughber scoreless. Even though we lost, it was a great season. The girls earned 2nd place in the conference and the final record was 9 wins and 2 losses. It was a fun season. Great job girls.
