Children's Education Program at Bass Performance Hall

The mission of the Nancy Lee and Perry R. Bass Performance Hall is to serve as a permanent home to major performing arts organizations of Fort Worth and as a premiere venue for other attractions so as to enhance the range, quality, and accessibility of cultural fare available to the public; to promulgate arts education; and to contribute to the cultural life of Fort Worth, Tarrant County, and the region.

Van Cliburn: An American Hero

Grades: 4-6

Cost: FREE

Length: 50 minutes


The music and life of one America's most famous musicians who grew up and lived in Texas and brought Texas great recognition Hear some of the music that made Van Cliburn famous and learn more about his life. This program will feature a classical pianist with an international career, as well as two actor/narrators who will tell his story and bring him to life for students. There are also photos overhead of important moments in his career.

TCU Percussion Ensemble

Grades: 4-12

Cost: FREE

Length: 50 minutes


The Percussion Ensemble at Texas Christian University conducted by Dr. Brian West, will present a wide variety of pitched and un-pitched percussion instruments, in many compositions written specifically for them. They will demonstrate standard band and orchestra instruments, as well as steel pan drums in the concert. This performance is designed to introduce students of all ages to this large and interesting family of instruments.

Macbeth

Grades: 9-12

Cost: FREE

Length: 60 minutes


Shakespeare's great historical tragedy, Macbeth, will be presented to high school students in a condensed, one-hour version. Presented by Stage West of Fort Worth, this production will give students an appreciation of Shakespeare onstage.

The Nutcracker

Grades: 3-5

The beautiful fantasy of Texas Ballet Theater's Nutcracker, complete with Clara's beautiful holiday gift at Bass Performance Hall, Fort Worth. First Act only.

One O'Clock Lab Band

Grades: 7-12

Cost: FREE

Length: 60 minutes


One O'clock Lab Band from UNT. This outstanding, Grammy-nominated ensemble introduces students to the history of jazz and some of the greats who helped to develop this all-American art form.

Peter and the Wolf

Grades: K-5

Cost: FREE

Length: 60 minutes


Live from the stage of Bass Performance Hall! One of the world’s great fairy tales, Peter and the Wolf, performed by the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra and Metropolitan Classical Ballet is an enchantingly simple performance of an adventurous boy and his bravery in trapping the wolf. This presentation demonstrates the many ways that a story can be told. Narrated in English and Spanish.

Once Upon a Tale (bilingual)

Grades: K-1

Cost: FREE

Length: 60 minutes


Throughout history, storytelling has played an important role in communities around the world. It imparts wisdom in an engaging manner, imparts life’s lessons and, most important, preserves our history from generation to generation. Charlotte Blake Alston is one of the leading storytellers in the country, and in this presentation brings her special insight to the fairy tales and folk tales of American culture. She will be accompanied by Claudia Acosta, making this a bilingual presentation.
