From the Principal's Desk
It's been a great week here at school! Lunches happened and were pretty tasty but I'm not sure who thought syrup was good for elementary students! LOL! We're establishing strong routines and with routines comes learning and accountability. We believe in implementing graduated consequences with our students to try and give them an opportunity to learn and grow from their mistakes. In the event that we are not having success with this approach, or something more severe arises, we'll reach out to you with a phone call to discuss what we're seeing at school and look for solutions. Something that we consistently see as a staff are misbehaviors during recess. The vast majority of these behavior incidents could be easily handled if someone involved had sought out adult help early on. While we do have a large playground we have plenty of adult supervision and they wear bright vests, making them easy to find. Please encourage your child to find a trusted adult if something is percolating at school. We can likely prevent larger incidents by talking things through and problem solving with the students. One thing I have heard consistently through the years from students is the confusion over tattling (i.e. "snitching") vs. telling. Please take the time to engage in a discussion about this at home and explain the difference to your child. The social pressure to conform can be powerful and we want our students to be emotionally healthy and strong enough to know the difference and report things that need to be reported.
Thank you for another great week and enjoy the long Labor Day weekend!

SOARING at Bauer!
During the first two weeks at Bauer, we have been busy reviewing our SOAR expectations. Students have focused on learning how to be safe, own it, act responsibly, and be respectful. We have reviewed SOAR with students, had them discuss what it looks like, and practice. SOAR expectations are used in the classroom, hallway, bathroom, and on the playground and bus. You may have even seen posters around the building at open house that remind students how we SOAR! We have seen students doing a great job while SOARing at Bauer so far this year!
Attendance
If your student will not be attending school due to illness or other reasons, please call the office before 9:00 am.
If your student will be late, arriving after 8:50 am, please call the office in the morning.
If your student will be late and needs a hot lunch, please let us know when you call. Hot lunch needs to be ordered by 10:00 am.
Planned absences of more than 3 days require a vacation request form to be filled out. Please turn in vacation request forms at least 5 days prior to the planned absence.
Transportation Home
If your child is going to have a change in transportation home at the end of the school day, please contact the main office to let them know of the change prior to 3:00 p.m. We want to ensure that the classroom teachers are notified in a timely fashion prior to end of day dismissal procedures. Please note that the latest time to pick up students from the office is 3:30pm. Any pick up after that time needs to be in the car line.
