This Week in Religious Education
What is happening for children, youth, and families at OUUC
Our November Theme: Revelation
In our Religious Education classes for this coming month we will be exploring our two Sources for this year (Prophetic People and Jewish and Christian teachings) through the lens of the theme of "Revelation". Children will learn about two prophetic people who talked about revelation: Moses and Francis David.
We've also had to reschedule the Family Chapel this month, so the theme will be introduced in Family Chapel on November 11th. This Sunday, November 4th, there will be normally scheduled classes.

Sunday and Every Day: Taking It Home
Last Sunday we explored stories about death and honored those who have died. It was also the end of our theme of "Prophetic People".
Discuss at home:
- Who were your ancestors? Family ancestors? Faith ancestors? Cultural ancestors?
- What prophetic truths have your ancestors left for you? What can we learn from our ancestors?
- Are there ancestors that you wish you knew more about? Is there family history that you don't know? Are there living ancestors whose stories you should gather before they are gone?
Children's books that explore the topic of death well:
- The Tenth Good Thing About Barney by Judith Viorst
- Badger's Parting Gifts by Susan Varley
- Nana Upstairs and Nana Downstairs by Tomie dePaola
- The Next Place by Warren Hanson
- About Death: A Unitarian Universalist Book for Kids
Looking Ahead, Sunday November 11th
This week will be Family Chapel. On Family Chapel Sundays we don't start in the sanctuary and get sung out, instead come straight back to the RE wing to join Family Chapel. Family Chapel is meant for the whole family, but children can also attend unaccompanied if parents have other obligations elsewhere at OUUC that morning.
9:15 Spirit Play for preschool to 5th grade, with a lesson the UU Sources
11:00 Family Chapel for preschool-5th grade and their families
Middle School group will be out on a field trip
Not registered yet for this year's RE programs? It only takes a couple minutes!
If you have not already done so, please take some time this week to complete the registration form for the new program year.
