Message from the Principal

Westbrook Families,

It has been an exciting week with our Read Across America event at Westbrook and Glen Grove. Students and staff have enjoyed dressing up with colors this week and the fun continues next week! Students are genuinely excited about reading and the potential of seeing their principals receive a pie to the face! Please continue to encourage reading with your students and remember to track those minutes! Monday is wear ORANGE.

We have now had two successful weeks in a mask recommended but optional environment. Students and staff continue to show respect for all based on their family's choice. Thank you to everyone for their continued support and understanding as we help students transition to this new environment.

As we move closer to spring break, with the increase in temperatures and a change to the environment with masks recommended we have started to see an increase in behaviors across all settings. This is typical at this time of year. Staff will continue to dedicate time to remind students about our expectations across the building. We use common language across Westbrook to help teach students our expectations. The three main expectations are to be safe, be kind, and be your best. These three principles can apply to all settings. Please feel free to reach out at any time if we can help support your student.

I hope everyone has a safe and relaxing Spring Break! We still have five more days of spirited fun here at Westbrook!

Have a wonderful weekend.

There's some awesome info in The Language Line about providing more interactive learning for EL's, debates between DL and BL education and opportunities for our EL and Bilingual families to get family packs for experiential learning at the Botanic Gardens and Museum of Science and Industry.

Construction Update

The construction is moving right along! Ceilings and hallway skylights are being installed and our new lunchroom/gym had the interior painted today! Exterior doors to the new addition were added this week and we can see the new southern entrance to our full day kindergarten wing. It is amazing to see the progress! Enjoy the photos below!
