3 TIPS FOR GETTING BACK IN THE GROOVE
Getting back in the swing of things after all this time home is definitely a challenge! Here are a few tips to help ease the adjustment as we get back to it.
1. Time for a Reset!—
Slowly move those bedtimes and wake-up times back to what they should be during the school year. It has been a VERY extended summer break for us this year, and I know this is a tip that I will be using for myself as well! You can do this gradually over one or two weeks. If meal times or other regular routines have changed over the summer vacation, reset those as well. Block out the school schedule (holidays, test days, etc.) on a calendar. A family calendar in a prominent place helps everyone see what’s going on at a glance, including all those after school activities.
2. Organize Your Workspace and Supplies—
If you (or your student) don’t have an organized area to work in yet, now is the time to get it all set up (especially if you are starting out the year online)! De-clutter that workspace that you will be using for daily work or homework. Make sure that you have a quiet, distraction-free place for your work. Stock up on the supplies you need, including any organization accessories like folders, desk trays, paper, and writing utensils.
3. Set Goals for yourself for the Upcoming School Year—
Start the year the way you want it to continue! Doing the above should help you get a good start on the school year and it will set you up for SUCCESS! You can make the first week even easier by setting up the daily routines that make school life more simple. Each night before school, prep what you need, such as lunch/snacks, your awesome outfit, and your backpack for starters. You'll be ready to run with the pack!
BE AN UPSTANDING COYOTE
Bullying is defined as an intentional act that causes harm to others. Bullying can be physical, verbal, social (gossip, excluding others), or cyber (electronically), and it is a very serious topic that we revisit each year. If you SEE something SAY something! Be an upstanding citizen and be sure to report any incidents of bullying or peer pressure to a trusted adult. To report anonymously, you can leave a tip on "Fortify FL" at the following link:
Remember, always be kind for others may be fighting a battle that you know nothing about. There is a NO TOLERANCE policy when it comes to bullying, harassment, or peer pressure!
National Suicide Prevention Month
Suicide Prevention Awareness Week is September 6-11, 2020. Each day, you can show your support and awareness by being a part of these daily themes and activities:
