The Chocolate King
Childhood and Earlier Jobs
He was born on September 13th, 1857 in Derry Township, Pennslyvania. His parents were Veronica Snavely and Henry Hershey. His only sibling was five years younger than him, and her name was Sirena. He left school when he was only 13 years old because his parent couldn't afford to keep him in the system. At first, he only owned a caramel company called Lancaster. His aunt gave him $500 to get him started with his business. For his company, he used recipes that he had gathered along his journey.
This is an old picture of the "Chocolate King" himself.
This is what a Hershey's milk chocolate bar used to look like. At this time, the front read, "More sustaining than meat."
