Support the Sikh community - Stand up to fear, violence, and hate.
We encourage you to share this invite with your friends, family, coworkers, neighbors, and community. The purpose of this vigil is three-fold:
1) REMEMBER: To honor those who have passed on, those who were injured and loved ones who are gravely affected by this tragic event. We should also take this time to thank the policemen, first-responders, FBI, hospitals, and others who risked their lives & helped at this difficult time.

2) MESSAGE: To spread the message about Sikhism because education trumps ignorance. We should expose the beauty of Sikhism to our community and share with the world that we are a peaceful & loving religion who respects people from all faiths and backgrounds. Guru Nanak preached a message of love, peace, and coexisting in harmony with others.
3) SOLIDARITY: To come together at this difficult time and provide each other with comfort and support. We need to dispel any apprehension/fear that young children may have about coming to the Gurdwara - this IS a safe place.
Please do not bring banners, posters, or any other signage to this candlelight vigil.
"Nonviolence means avoiding not only external physical violence but also internal violence of spirit. You not only refuse to shoot a man, but you refuse to hate him." - Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
